Sounds like you're full of energy!

We don't have trader joe's in canada but I would assume it would be a hard chain to maintain- a hit or miss type store because it's not like they can have the same vendor/products available at every one because of the difficulty of going local. Still sounds like a cool concept of a store- even if only a little bit is local.

Yeah, I imagine it's hard enough selling natural foods without the focus on local. I just need to work harder finding suppliers. I did join a Community Supported Agriculture program at my local farm. The irony is that they supply a lot of food in our weekly box that I am trying to avoid (lots of fruit, potatos, etc.) so I end up giving away what we don't use. Some weeks it's nearly everything!

I haven't made the rounds of the farmers markets here either, and many will end soon, gotta hop on that. So much to do!

Lunch was some leftover turkey breast and some (cold) sauteed zucchini and onions in butter. They were great! I have discovered Kerrygold Butter! Grass-fed and yum!

Judg- Yes, people are beginning to mention it, but like I said in your journal, I've gone up and down the scale pretty regularly so the people who are close to me have seen this before. Once I get into the 230s it will be beyond my usual range.

It should get interesting then. I do understand them, my SIL has yoyoed up and down so many times, I've stopped commenting. All her weights look normal, although she doesn't usually stay thin very long. She's now heading towards vegetarian, low-fat... Wouldn't eat my pasta salad at the last family BBQ (I was urgently requested to make it) because of the avocado, not because of the pasta. I don't argue with her. When you beat your head against a wall, it's your head that loses. If she ever loses it and stays thin for six months or a year, THEN I will be impressed. I know she can lose it. So yes, when you break past their expectations, they will sit up and take notice.

Our local organic suppliers here often allow you to indicate preferences, so you don't get too loaded up with things you don't like. Which reminds me, I should sign up for something like that. DD is willing to split it with me.

Splitting it up is a good idea, last year (the first it was offered) we ordered a full share. That was a mistake! It was way too much food. This year we got a 2/3 share. Even it is a lot sometimes. There is a "trade table" so you can put back things you won't use and take more of the things you like. It works pretty well. All in all we are happy with it. We'll do it again next year.

There is another farm, right in the same town who has offered shares starting this year, I'll likely check them out too.

This year our garden supplied a good amount, which we need to factor in.

TJ's doesn't normally have local stuff. I'm not overly fond of their fresh stuff although I have bought plenty of apples there. For me the strong points are wine, tea, coffee, spices, and nuts. Also their body care products, very reasonable and very nice. Soap of all types, although I usually use locally made stuff these days. I used to love their pizzas. I don't miss them, though.

Hi Siobahn, I had sort of expected the place to be bigger. There used to be a chain called Bread and Circus, i think they were out of Boston. I used to go to the one in Hadley, Mass. When I lived in Amherst. It was the size of a supermarket. Whole foods bought them out.

I think I expected to find that type of place. The TJs in Orange is not much bigger than the little health food store here in town. There is a Whole foods in Milford, I'll try there next. Maybe they have more local stuff.

Of course, soon enough there won't be anything local except turnips, onions, and Hubbard squash...sigh! Fortunately I like it all.

I forgot to mention, SWMBO and I were invited to a Black Tie Formal Wedding and Reception at a fancy Country Club in Westport. So I had to get fitted for a tuxedo. At first I had a mind to rebel against the ostentatiousness of such things by getting a powder blue tux with brown velvet appointments and a frilly shirt and platform patent leather boots just like my junior prom tux in 1977. But in the end I went for a basic black dinner jacket, black pants, matching vest, white (non-ruffled shirt) and normal tie.

It was nice that I am now in normal male sizes and could try on the "test jackets" and they didn't have to scare up one from the "portly" section. The regular extra-large dropped right on! :-)

I will likely take some pictures and will post one. This will be the third time I've worn a tux, not counting shows I acted in where I wore them as a costume.

I'm actually really looking forward to stepping out!

I do know what you mean about the rebellion though. I deliberately wore a pair of slightly dated platform shoes to a family do recently, in large part because the hostess had found them too young for me when I initially bought them a decade ago, LOL! Hubby wanted me to wear my strappy sandals, but it was a good thing I didn't: the heels would have sunk right into the grass (it was a fancy BBQ party, with long tables strung together on the lawn) and I wouldn't have been able to kick them off easily which I could with the platforms. But that was the extent of my rebellion. Other than that I was quite proper.

Excited to see pictures! That's one hell of an investment though no? I would have thought it better to wait until you were done losing! Or is this a rental?

Yeah, its just a rental. So all told, including socks and shoes it came to just over $100.00 (little American Dollars). I did buy the insurance incase of spills and damage. I remember going to a wedding years ago on a rainy Saturday, my best friend was in the wedding party and a tackle football game broke out in the yard behind the church hall. It was the wedding party against the wedding guests. It was full contact and it was easy to tell the teams apart because the wedding party was all in the same light grey tuxedos. That is, until about the middle of the second quarter when we were all the same brown muddy color...

The wedding guests lost...my $75 Sears & Roebucks wash-n wear suit was stained beyond reuse, the victorius team paid a lot of fees and penealties to the rental place.

Beer was involved.

I do not expect this wedding to be so much fun...
