    Olive oil

    Shop Now
I have heard alot lately about quality Olive Oil and Imports not be either extra virgin or of good quality, they are supposed to turn clody in the refrigerator. I have tried several different brands now and none have turned cloudy. Anyone know what brands are good?

There about as many small producers of Olive Oil from California now as there are craft beers. Look for California Olive Oil Council Certification. I don't think we can trust the big European importers any longer.

"A University of California Davis study found 69 per cent of imported oil to the United States failed to meet international standards for extra-virgin olive oil", from Why the olive oil in your salad dressing may be a fraud - thestar.com, is only one of many.

I agree, California is your best bet for top quality EVOO. Also Costco's signature Kirkland brand passed the UC Davis testing and is very good real EVOO... well priced too.

I always buy EVO the ones imported from Italy. I figured they use a lot of EVO there so must be authentic. I could be wrong on this one though

Our best oils come from California, too. It was a very small harvest last year though, so oil production was down. We're club members so we got some of their best, non-flavored oil, but in a smaller quantity. (sobs into hanky). Good thing we have plenty of ghee, butter and bacon fat!

Er, all olive oil goes cloudy when cold.. olive oil isn't supposed to be stored in the refrigerator.
