Ha, yes, no surprise regarding the MRSA. Would be a bit of a pain if they have to put you in "isolation" for your short hospital stay post op, but we all know that drill well. Would kind of be unfortunate if they want to dose you with antibiotics, however. Lots of probiotic foods should be in your repetoire if so. But of course, you know that...

I've done some research and ABX aren't always an option for a carrier, but 10-14 days is a possibility. Hibiclens head to toe daily x 7 days with bactroban nasal swab tid x 7 days is pretty standard. I've done bactrim and doxy with the bactroban in the past. Guess I'm a "good" carrier!

Good grief. What a PITA. But of course, we are obliged to protect the "unwashed masses"...

No doubt. I've never been tested. Probably don't want to be. Here, as a patient, we only routinely swab patients who have been hospitalized elsewhere recently.

When I was deployed in Afghanistan, many of our patients tested positive for acenitobacter baumanii. Apparently it is indigenous in the soil there. Wonder what would happen if they tested all of us who were over there

Yup when I worked at the military hospital it sent the infection control nurse in a tizzy!

I won't let 'em swab me. Not going there. Maybe it is selfish of me, but until the powers that be get a handle on this stuff (our current precautions are absurd) I'm not putting myself in for the trouble it causes.

Bummer! But it is probably for the best. I'm just a cranky sort.

Slept 7+ hours with light slightly>deep. A bit tired today. I'm thinking early to bed. I can't afford to go into next week feeling tired. Think we will do leftovers again tonight. I've got some tomatoes, kale, and green onions that need to be eaten. Maybe a "pasta" sauce. Got a few errands to run and a hair appointment today. No time for a nap.
