Anything I can do about an avocado allergy?...

I love avocados and can't read a post in here without seeing them referenced, but every time I eat them, I get intense stomach cramps and nausea. I've just assumed I'm allergic and was wondering if there was anything I could do to overcome it other than avoiding them. They're just too nutritious to let go of. Any ideas?

Take 3 months off and try again.
Don't let anybody tell you, "You can't" just because they can't.

Sorry...I had to let go of the avocado thing, too - they are insanely high in fiber, and were triggering my IBS. You can always try abstaining for a few months, then re-introducing in a small amount to see if that reaction has abated.

Yep. Give the body a looooong break and see if the sensitivity is gone.
Steak, eggs, potatoes - fruits, nuts, berries and forage. Coconut milk and potent herbs and spices. Tea instead of coffee now and teeny amounts of kelp daily. Let's see how this does! Not really had dairy much, and gut seems better for it.

Avocados used to make my mouth tingle, but I eat them all the time now and I don't have a reaction.

+1 on a break and then reintroduce, especially if you are just starting to eat primally.

I somehow developed an intolerance to avocados a few years back, the pain I experienced after eating even a small amount was awful! I had a long break (probably 10 months or so), warily re-introduced them, and found, to my great delight, that they no longer caused me any problems!

If you have an allergy, stay away from them. There are lots of other healthy things to eat.

I have a friend who is allergic to avocados, and it also goes hand in hand with banana & latex allergy. You're not allergic to those, too, are you?
