sodium in bacon: dangerous?
I eat a half pound of bacon each day for breakfast. According to FitDay, this equates to about 1200 calories and 5200 mg of sodium. Is this amount of sodium too much?
It can be if you aren't getting enough potassium to balance it out. As I understand it, you want to be eating about 3:1 potassium to sodium ratios daily. Sodium is not the enemy though, lack of potassium is more likely the true cause of concern.
I'm not a fan of huge bacon quantities due to nitrate preservatives, unless you can get a source without them. I haven't been able to.
