    Paleo on $3 per day?

    Primal Fuel
This question is not for me, but for a Paleo Hacks poster who had her question closed as "not a real question." She stipulated that she really only had $3 per day to spend, until the next check rolled in, but seemed to be unable to save up any per day to buy, like, a whole chicken, as I suggested. Is she just screwed?
I have been, in the past, on a $7 per day budget for a bit, but I don't know if $3 per day is do-able for this chick.

In that kind of situation, I would say screw strict paleo and buy some lentils and black beans ($1/bag). That + eggs and maybe tomato sauce, salsa, and/or yogurt for flavor.

Other than that, supermarket ground beef, chicken thighs, ground pork, spinach, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, bananas, and butter are always cheap. I'd avoid a lot of fresh produce and focus more on energy dense organs (potatoes) and meats. Fatty ground beef and pork would allow you to get around buying any cooking oils.

I'm gonna say that's impossible. Unless you just eat 2 dozen eggs a day, but that's hardly healthy.

eggs & tuna fish are gonna be her best bet. Tuna only runs 60c-80c a can here, and I can get 5 dozen eggs for $4.

I'm gonna agree! Unless you can fast for a day on eggs and save that day's money to buy a chicken, or at least go to aldi to stock up on some canned food, or go to a pantry, you are kinda, well, just stuck with eggs!!
P.S. this chick's question was a reminder to me to always keep a freezer full of meat and veg, and a pantry full of canned goods!!!

if you swap the pastured meats and eggs for their CAFO equivalents, it gets even cheaper. And it isn't hard to make it strict paleo by swapping the beans for veggies & fats, but that could push the price-point way up.

Yes, that's do-able, even my $7 per day was do-able, but for some reason, this chick was EMPHATIC that $3 per day was really PER DAY! I don't know her, or her story, or where she's getting this $3 allowance per day, but DAMN, I'd sell some plasma or something!
