    Tea and bloating

    Primal Fuel
    I been a tea drinker all my life. Just recently green tea has give me the bloats. I switch to white tea and I still get the bloats and gasey. Any of you have similar experencies? Besides giving up tea, any solutions, suggestiions? Thanks

    I find, if anything, that tea REDUCES my bloating. One of the reasons for this is that all forms of tea are mild diuretics (that is, they make you have to urinate more often). This helps with water retention from excess dietary sodium and any other number of reasons it might occur.

    Of course, if I drink fantastic amounts, I get slightly bloated until my body has processed it all, but it's hard to drink the level of tea quickly enough that that would require and the diuretic nature of tea makes that even harder.

    I drink regular true teas and sometimes herbal. Right now, I am sipping on an awesome vanilla chai blend I bought yesterday (without milk though).

    Try adding some Peppermint Tea....it is great for reducing bloat....

    Ginger tea has much the same effect as well, I can say from experience.

    Try making tea out of food-grade dried rose petals. Rose is anti-inflammatory and works well for quelling cramps, even. The tea is also super soothing and delicious. Very mild unless you over-steep it.

    i cannot abide green tea. it tastes like yard clippings.

    i drink black tea of varying sorts and it agrees with me just fine.

    caffeine is not a demon.

    Justa note from my eavesdropping on the Iodine thread - tea is fairly high in fluorides , and when you are detoxing for any reason, you can bloat. Iodine displaces fluoride; so can cause bloating. Oolong is the least fluoride-filled, black and green/white teas among the worst, or so I've read. I rarely drink any teas because even that small amount of caffeine bothers me. And decaffeinated stuff is horrible! ;-)
