    Trying new things

    I got my hands on 2 goose eggs and some goat stew meat on Monday.

    The goose eggs were huge, and tasted a lot like chicken eggs. They were also $4 each. So in my oppion they weren't worth the money...but they were worth the experience.

    I cooked up the goat stew meat in a basic stew recipe in my crockpot yesterday... and it was delicious!! I like it better than beef, pork, or lamb. I will definitely have goat again.

    Goat rocks. We had goat and lamb burgers this weekend, perfect mix!

    Jealous on the goose eggs. Always wanted to try some...

    goat is awesome! if you get the fattier cuts, it's gamey in a delicious way. a lot of times stew meat is quite lean.

    Goat is great in the slow cooker. That is a staple around my house.
    I get an ostrich egg every now and then from the ostrich farm near where I live. Those are really rich and creamy tasting. But a bit pricy too.

    I would LOOOOVE to try an ostrich egg. I'm on the look out for Turkey eggs too.

    Duck eggs are delicious!

    I had went to a Japanese steakhouse / sushi place two nights ago on date night with the hubby, and ordered octopus this time around. Liked that!

    When I was too full to order anything else, I saw sushi-chef make something that looked incredible: nori around tuna, the most beautiful garnet red jewel-like pearls of roe on top, and on top of all that, a raw quail egg yolk! Next month on date night, that one is MINE. Never tried raw egg in anything except homemade mayo.

    Yeah I got a dozen duck eggs for $6 last weekend. Super super tasty, but a bit pricey.

    Okay, I have to ask - where do you guys all get this stuff?!?! I mean, EXACTLY where? I live nowhere near to all of you, but it would give me ideas on where to start searching in at least the OH / PA / WV area! We do have a few cities within day-trip distance of here...

    I've had yak in Nepal. There, the adventurous thing to try was the carrot "pickle". Whew that stuff is HOT!
