That's a lot better than letting one group of people claim meat causes diabetes, and another group of people just remaining silent and then letting people make an informed decision based on that.

Judging from the responses I've received on this thread, I get the impression that the best argument we have against people claiming meat causes diabetes is to just keep our mouths shut.

A vegan writes a book claiming meat causes diabetes, and goes on TV programs promoting this idea, and the best we can do is just sit back and say, well we don't personally know these people, therefore we need to just keep quiet on this topic.

Let me rephrase my original post, instead of asking people to debunk this vegan with actual scientific research, maybe I should just say something like, "A vegan claims meat causes cancer, please everyone keep quiet and don't say anything about this because we need as many people here thinking that meat causes cancer". Maybe if I said something like that, I'd actually get a positive response from the community...

It's not impossible. If there is a profit involved, and no government intervention, then it is possible.

To be honest I wouldn't worry. i'm not suggesting you shouldn't comment if you want to, of course. But no-one should have to feel responsible for correcting all the nonsense that's on the Internet. If one did that, for every subject under the sun, one would scare have time to breathe.

I can tell you what the average person will think when reading that some fool has said that meat causes diabetes: "there goes a fool" -- in which he will be quite right. People have some weird beliefs, such as that saturated fat clogs your arteries, but if there's one thing most people are aware of it's that diabetics can't eat sugar: hence the myriad of sugar-free diabetic products in the stores.

They will think, "There goes a crazy." And anyone who manages to suppress that obvious reaction has reasons for doing so, so isn't going to persuaded not to poison himself.

    Indeed.

People who follow vegan diet will have to answer down the road for their foolish choice, I don't have any truck with the people of woo.
Primal/Paleo is not for everyone, it's for those who have committed to understand.

I think it's nice to provide the dissenting opinion in those comments sections. That is how people learn. I realize that 99.9% of people only absorb what they already agree with. But for the occasional person they will see the word primal or paleo for the first time and start searching and be open to giving it a try. Maybe there is a vegan out there who is feeling crappy and knows that something is not working. They may be a bit more open to a suggestion and perhaps they would be helped. I had never heard of paleo until one day I stumbled across something about it.

We all have to start somewhere.

I do like his encouraging people to eat veg but the claim that 3 oz of red meat increases the risk of diabetes is absurd.
Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.
