We no longer say "Praise the lord and pass the potatoes." We don't have potatoes any more.

For all the german speaking folks:

" Lieber Gott sei mit am Tisch, damit ich's groesste Stueck erwisch'. Amen."

This is a good question. I have gone through a lot of guilt over the years about my food choices, am quite spiritual. Otoh there is no doubt that God has led me every step of the way and wants to me to eat this diet so I can stay in embodiment and live a long time, so yeah I ought to give thanks.

No prayer. Sumbel and blot are sufficient on feast dates.
Peak weight on Standard American Diet: 316.8 lbs
Initial Weight When Starting Primal: 275 lbs
    Current weight: 210.8 lbs
Goal weight: 220 lbs (or less): MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

The way "" should have looked:

I've considered on and off starting some sort of grace ritual before meals. I mean, I can't say thanks when I kill the critter, but I feel like I should say thanks before I eat it. Haven't done it yet, though.

I always liked the Boy Scout one. "Let's say Grace." "GRACE!" My blog exploring the beginning stages of learning how to homestead. With the occasional rant.

We always did the "God is great, God is good, let us thank him for this food" before each meal, didn't hold hands, tho. My dad, who was the sweetest man ever, would say during the middle of a meal, I just wanna thank this chicken/cow/pig for giving up its life so that we can eat to live, and we'd sing out, thank you, Mister or Missus chicken/cow/pig.

I like holding hands to pray even in public, most of the time. If for some reason I'm not feeling close to whoever I'm eating with then I just fold my own hands and bow my head, because when I do hold hands it's a sincere sign of community not something forced, you know?

I thought this thread was going to be about "Give us this day our daily bread", haha. I don't usually use the Lord's prayer for meals though; more like "Thank you for this meal, please help me to glorify you today, please keep (my husband in Afghanistan) safe and strong. Amen." No changes necessary there. (-:

Started PB on Monday, June 4. I'm focusing on my health in 2012, including taking natural supplements, zumba and strength training, regular church attendance and studying the Bible, spending time with good friends, and reading more. I want to see what health milestones I can achieve this year!
