    Biometric screening day at work .. how did I do?

    Primal Fuel
    Biometric screening day here at work .. how did i do (i dont trust their thoughts LOL)?

    Blood Pressure : 119/75
    Total Cholesterol : 149
    HDL : 63
    Total Chol / HDL : 2.4
    Glucose : 93 (fasting state according to them.. I had a square or two of chocolate today but no food)
    BMI : 26.31

    unfortunately these are all the numbers they gave me ...

    ps - i argued BMI ... LOL.. the lady measured me at 6'1" then measured me again and said I was just under 6'1" so had to use 6" even .. argh LOL...

    LOL, BMI is silly anyway. Everything else looks good to me. You're a healthy dude.

    i agree its silly... i have a lil more weight to lose in my mind, but without accurate hieght the number is crap.. even more so that it doesnt account for muscle etc... i had some co-workers with numbers like 35, 43, etc.. id worry then!

    crazy how much different this is from where I would have scored last year..

    good job on the HDL...over 60 counts as a negative risk factor for cardiovascular disease ! has it always been that high? i've performed thousands of biometric screenings. can be really difficult for men to improve this value.

    even a couple of chocolate pieces can affect a fasting glucose val. still in a good range, tho.

    from an epidemiological side, BMI is useful. not so much for the individual. get your body fat tested incrementally. exciting to see the changes when even weight doesn't budge.

    No, man. Buy a good shovel and start digging a 6'1" hole. You about to keel over any minute.

    Your total cholesterol is a little worrisome (though this opens the debate about causation versus correlation). Lower cholesterol is strongly correlated with overall higher mortality. Optimum TC seems to hover in the mid 200's, about 250. But it is largely the ratio of HDL to LDL that matters, and yours is good.

    I have no idea what your past numbers were. You want to watch for trends. A little snap shot is pretty much worthless, as your blood cholesterol changes just as much as your blood sugar, hour to hour. I'd focus mostly on getting your HDL up, though it's pretty good already if your TC is only 149! It is, after all, the HDL to LDL ratio that seems to have some bearing. My HDL 94 now, making me virtually invincible to heart disease - according to the most recent theories. Most of my calories come from grass-fed beef tallow, which I make myself and drink massive puddles of after my daily meal. Add to that liberal amounts of coconut milk and oil, fish, eggs, lamb, duck and fresh wild herbs/greens, etc. and POW, up goes the HDL. In my case, at least. My TC is happily in the 250 to 270 range, with direct LDL only at 160, every time I get it checked. I work in a lab and get to check it for kicks pretty frequently.

    So you're fine, really. Relax.
