Week 2 - Week in Review

    Shop Now
Nutrition: Feel good about the week, even the bad carbs on Day's 12 & 14, because they were intentional decisions, that happened in a social context, not me burning out or responding to a craving and just not giving a sh*t. Want to develop a healthy attitude now where I can occasionally choose to not be fully primal for a meal, without freaking out and feeling guilty. Plus my body will let me know when I'm straying too far, which it did.

Fitness: Walking, walking and more walking. Looking forward to beach volleyball this weekend, for the first time in 3 years.

Other: Started and stopped cold shower challenge. Sleep still sucks.

Best part of the week: Lots of beach time with friends on Day 12 and discovering Beurre Blanc sauce for fish.

Worst part of the week: Hives from too many Strawberries and abandoning the cold shower challenge due to sunburn.

Main goal for next week: SLEEP - In bed by 11pm. // Waking up naturally isn't a goal, so much as a result of a consistent sleep schedule. So I'm simplifying and carrying over this goal from last week, which didn't happen at all. // Side-goal. TAKE MY DAMN VITAMINS - It's two pills; a multi-vitamin and a probiotic. Seriously, how hard is that?

Thanks Crabbcakes. I'm already slowing down a bit on some things to focus on essentials (food, then sleep, then exercise). Though I want to try it all at some point and see what sticks.

THANKS! The thread blew up so fast, I thought my response was just lost to the ether. Glad someone appreciated it. Was a challenging thing to respond to.

Yes, it does indeed sound like you are going through the carb flu. Adding carb heavy stuff like quinoa however, can just prolong the process.
Agreed. All the above were efforts to lesson some of the carb flu these first couple weeks. Hopefully at this point, I'm past it. Have a bit of dried fruit to finish off, but we'll see what happens. If it comes back intensely after that, then I'll know I just prolonged.

Thanks. I think so too. It's been great having the forum during this process and connecting with other, uhm... Primals (?).

So I broke my own first month rule and tracked calories for Day 15. Was getting concerned about overall calories and carbs from fruit. The macronutrient ratio and calories are probably not ideal, but I really haven't spent much time worrying about what it should be, just focusing on transitioning to primal foods. For only two weeks Primal, I'm okay just knowing I'm consuming less than 2500 calories and under 150g carbs. Will track again in a couple weeks.

It sounds like you are doing very well overall. Your attitude toward cheating is a very healthy one, it seems to me.

    Day 16 - 16.Jun.12

Despite the heat and blowing sand, had a great time playing beach volleyball. It's the first recreational sports activity I've done in a long time. Ate lunch afterwards, but was so exhausted, forgot to have dinner. Did Yogurt and berries right before bed. More of a late night snack really, but closest thing to "dinner" I had.

Definitely agree. Veggies are a struggle at the moment. Keep frozen broccoli & peppers at the ready. Aside from that I tend to be a bit perplexed about incorporating veggies when doing unplanned cooking. Maybe I'll make fresh veggie packs. If there were ready to snack on without cooking or additional prep, that would help.

Instead of a food photo, here's a pic of what I'm told is the 2nd largest Whole Foods in the US (75,000 sq. ft). The largest is their Austin flagship store.
