Anyone know what part of sunlight activates vitamin D in our bodies? That's probably crappy phrasing, but I guess what I'm wondering is, if I can get a sunburn on a cloudy day, can I get Vitamin D benefits on a cloudy day?

vitamin D production, as far as I know, is triggered by UVB. If you are at no risk of burning or of at least getting a mild tan, you are very likely not getting enough UVB for vit D production.

Excellent - So doffing the shirt on a cloudy day is just as good as doing so on a sunny one. That's good to know.

Because, unlike Mark in sunny CA, Virginia still spends about 1/4 of the year under a pall.
