I've been using a set of bands I got on line to help with pull ups. After mastectomy surgery, these are a real weak spot for me. The company is called Iron Woody's and so they are called Woody Bands. They are just like giant circular rubber bands that help support part of your weight while you work up to it. They come in a set of graduated thicknesses.

I agree PB and Sabine - I don't like too much salt but sometimes salt does make the difference

    Cool

Yesterday was a good day an dI must admit that I fell face first into some 4th of July cookies. But worry not my friends - it was not a binge, nor a reward, it was just cookies and milk. Family time and i enjoyed every morsel. it's the first thing made of the "forbidden foods" I have had in over a month. I enjoyed the fact that it was something sweet, but it really just tasted bland to me. Like there was not substance to it. Milk was good, but the cookies weren't really like I remember. So this little taste of the SAD just reinforced why I'm doing what Im doing, but i can enjoy myself and not feel like such a bitch by saying NO to every one all the time.

We took the babies to the water (my two yorkies) and Big Betty our pontoon boat the fur babes had a blast they are still restin up after yesterday.

Came home and fired up the grill and threw some steaks on there - Hubs is beginning to see HOW I cook steaks, and why. The last time he cooked them they were so tough I threw 1/2 of it away. So this time he listened - got the grill good and hot - 3 minutes on one side 2 minutes on the other viola! What he didn't understand was the searing part. Anywho.

June - i took some pics today with the MACRO lens attachment I have b/c it is overcast and of course you know makes for a great light. here are some of them and the address to my album of some of my pics....

Good work with the close up lens. It opens up whole worlds, doesn't it. Would you be upset/insulted at a bit of photo advice? I know people are sensitive to this, so I'll shut it if you want. I think that the first one has potential, but you need to be really aware of your backgrounds with close up work. That big bright spot is very distracting. What I do is hunt around until I can find a composition where the bg isn't competing with the subject. I wrote a whole article on it - Watch Your Backgrounds by Kristen Smith | Photography.ca

anyway...good work and definitely take it to the islands!!

I'm not sensitive at all, in fact that's one of the spots I was looking at when I cropped the thing I was so impressed with the veining in the leaf lol the way I ended up with that lens is I was in the market for a wide angle lens and my boss decides to 1-up me (which is always happening with people who have more money than you, you get a new truck they have to get one bigger and better) So I got my Nikon D80 he gets a D90 the whole kit deal with lenses, tripods blah blah. he didn't want the wide angle lens b/c it wasn't what he thought it was going to be and asked me if I wasnted it to play around with it. Well i was playing around with the wide angle lens and I noticed the word macro on one of the "attachements" so I unscrewed them all and viola! I said what an idiot....this is a kick ass little lens! You see, some people don't understand that it's not your equipment - it's the eye behind the equipment - And you girlfriend have a great eye! So no I don't mind and for those things that arent' easily fixed by just moving I have Photoshop (hehehe)
I'm not a master at PS but it's enough to make those family pictures where every one isn't smiling the picture perfect family lol
    DSC_22941.jpg

But, I do love the pictures where there is a pole coming out of someones head or why do people find a tree a good back drop? limbs every where I don't use PS as a crutch I am out of practice

    Happy 4th ya'll!

I want to express my gratitude those of you who have be in or who are in the United States Armed Forces. ( I understand there are many of you on here from many countries, so please take no offense)
I appreciate every thing you do for me, and give me the ability to to continue to celebrate my Independence Day.

    With that said -

We are going to the lake today with 10 other people. My Inlaws to be exact. i will put up with this group of people who do not think of me or my son as a part of the family today just to be able to take my friend my DH does not like the next time we go. We turned a simple outing into a circus. our boat holds 13 people. This kind of family was raised to think everyone was entitled to everything you or any body else has or else it isn't fair. If they don't want you included then you are out. out of family pictures, outings, but it's okay if you come to the cookouts because you'll bring food, or it's okay if you come help with a family project because they need an extra hand. But even after DH and I got married DS and I were still excluded from things considered to be completely family oriented - we've been in the family for 12 years. DS has been around these people since he was 5 and still gets excluded from family pictures and outings where they take the "grandchildren"
    I call bullshit.
But hey, I can't control what other people do right? I can only control how I react to the situations that I'm confronted with right?
You see i deal with this conflict almost every day - my inlaws live across the street, next door and next door to that. My DH owns a shop with the ones that don't live on the immediate "compound."

So today - I say EFF IT and let FREEDOM RING! i raise a toast *Y*
    Life, alas,
    Is very drear.
    Up with the glass,
    Down with the beer!

Have a great 4th all! here in central VA it should be a beautiful day

i am packing fruit and sanwiches and ice cold drinks we will have a good day if I have to push someone overboard

Happy fourth to all my American friends!

Nice pictures. I have occasionally managed to take a nice shot, but it's more hit and miss. And I really haven't spent the time with our new camera to learn how it works. Just a Cannon PowerShot for us, but it is a respectable point-and-shoot at least.

Photobucket... I haven't even looked at my account there in a couple of years.

    Thank you ma'am!
I started on a point and shoot in fact when I go on vacation that's what I take - I can set the settings on that one just the same with out the worry of changing lenses or being so touristy looking
Plus they fit in your pocket - what's not to like. It's really is composition when taking shots. If you want to take snapshots, take them if you want photography award worthy shots - you are not going to get them sitting at a table with abunch of your friends and the Really ugly dude sitting in the table next to you and waitress bending over and the flash reflecting off of the mirror behind all of you. It's just not gonna happen.
And what is with the younger generation and the taking pics of themselves with Duck lips???
    I don't get it :/

My kids are the younger generation, and they laugh at that too. Although my daughter will occasionally do it just to be ridiculous.

You are right, point and shoots are the best for vacations. I find the PowerShot to be a nice intermediate camera; you can use it as a point and shoot, but you can take it off the automatic settings and get a bit more serious if you like (which is the limit of my abilities at this point). I took a few nice garden shots with our old one.

This week has been trying and long already. Last week is slowly fading and if heat keeps the husband in the house again this weekend, I may end up feeding him to the dogs. I love him to pieces, but I think I appreciate my quiet time too.
last weeks eating was less than stellar, and I indulged in some sugar laden bad stuff. but no pastries or cakes.
i found out i will have to repeat my Anatomy and Physiology course that is titled differently now that the college I am at is phasing out the old one b/c it is not accepted at Universities, but it was accepted as program requirements. i knew I would have to take the course over with the different title to pursue my B.S. in the medical field hopefully taking that into Anesthesiologist Assisting. i really would have liked to do this on my own time.
    Today =
    2 boiled eggs
    pork tenderloin/ cheese/ texas pete
    Donut peach or saturn peach
    Chicken breast with broccoli
    Had a Michelobe Ultra
It's been raining almost all day, I am also waiting for DS to get back from the beach, he went today with friends.

well DS made it back by curfew and i got the phone call of the century today.
I am so thankful for today.
I got the phone call that the Dean would accept my first part of the A&P so that I could take the second required for the program requirements. The Respiratory therapy program head pulled for me on this one. i did have to sign a paper satting that because the courses were not sequential that they would not be transferrable. it saves me over $500 - i signed it. i am aware I will have to complete the two courses in sequence all over again - i just don't have to right now. I can now put all of my energy into completing this class and stepping into RT.
Exercise hasnt been possible for hikes because of the weather. It has been so hot, humid and just terrible here in VA. it was too hot to go to the lake the other day.
    ugh.
    today =

    2boiled eggs
    s- pork rinds
some pepperoni and cheese from the wawa ( i couldn't get lunch b/c I had to go sign that form at lunch)
    2 boiled eggs
    bowl of soup for dinner
    pork rinds.

Stomach has been feeling weird. i need to unwind i think
