Fantastic news getting into those shorts. Next is a new wardrobe.

Has your hubby joined you on no grains yet?

Yes Hubs will be joining me in no grains, and so far so good.
This is a start for him and I think he is finding the "not having one with the boys" a hard thing to do.
On the whole 30 you are not supposed to weigh yourself, but I couldn't help myself it's one of my vices.
I weighed this morning and guess what.... 184 even. So I know this is working. I knew it would - same as primal - I was for the most part eating all whole foods anyway, but having the occasional beer and sweet potato, or a piece of dark chocolate.
for after dinner i have been having my fruit, because that is when I am the "snackiest"...
I have been going to the gym every two days and I will start with 5 minutes cardio and then do a lifting routine 12 reps x 2 of each exercise. Sneak in some abs. making sure I am not over exerting myself. And then 30 minutes on the stair master or elliptical. So not much. I have been doing this instead of my normal walk push up routine, b/c the horse flies have been out terrible my way and they are every where down the road I walk. I've never seen them this bad.

I am looking forward to buying the new wardrobe but for now I am paying for school, and will save up for that Interview Outfit I'm gonna need when I decide to quit my current job for my complete career change.

Eggs have been playing a big part in nutrition for me lately, they are complete and portable.

I raced my car at the local dragstrip the other night, it was fun seeing what my car would run. I had never done that before and hubby encouraged me to do it, I drive a 2012 Chevy Cruze LTZ (automatic) I ran a 11.59 1/8th of a mile 62mph..... what a slug heheh - but inside the car my foot was to the floor and when the turbo kicked in it was fun to see how fast it would go and how quick. I would like to run it 1/4 mile just to see the speed at that point, I would assume it would hit over 100mph. BUT it is legal ON the strip.....no street racing for me ..... I always tell my son if you want to race do it at the track. Tickets are so not worth the trouble or money.

    Any who 184 Im stoked.

Congrats on the progress! And I sincerely hope your hubby gets just as stoked. Nothing like synergy...

What I am learning by re-acquainting myself with cutting out grains and limiting alcohol:
    • Tried the whole 30 - I'm living proof Primal works, so why buck the system?
    • Sugar has a VERY big pull on me.
    • I cannot go without yogurt – My body starts slipping back into low carb mode and getting constipated again.(I have no gall bladder)
    • EGGS have got to be the best food in the world.
    • I really don't miss ketchup.
    • I now know how to make homemade tomato sauce that's really good.
    • Grass fed beef is over rated. (it is tough, and non flavorful by itself, just MHO)
    • Farmers use grains to fatten beef before slaughter....... grains to fatten I said.
    • (very big AH-HA for me and my husband)
    • Hubs has kick ass will power and gets crazy (almost silly) without beer and cookies.
    • Memory retention is better without beer. (alcohol kills brain cells btw)
    • Water retention is almost gone.
    • Heartburn is down to nill.
    • Sleep has returned to restful – and waking up early is again possible without an alarm.

This has been the hardest 7 days I’ve been through in a long time and I’m fine with not having sweeteners, or grains, or flour, or sugar. But I have got to have yogurt, there’s just no way around it. I’ve tried enzymes from GNC, and drinking greens and eating more veggies, cutting out salt, none of that works, but I eat 1 little tub of yogurt and I’m good every day I don’t get that bloated hurting feeling in my gut.
Hubs hasn’t had any problems so far that I know of (except excitability)
We are going out for dinner tonight at a place called trackside grill. They have lots of options and great steaks and chicken - I might try some fish tonight if it’s on the menu.
I have class in the morning 9-3pm then I have to some home and put laundry away and do some pre winter cleaning (wipe down kitchen cabinets from top to bottom. It’s supposed to be raining anyway so it will be a good thing to pass the time. 

Sounds like you are making excellent progress, and learning how to tweak the system to cover your own individual needs.

I like that bit about using grains to fatten. I hadn't thought to make that connection.

How much have you limited your alcohol to? How often do you imbibe?

I decided limiting beer will be hard for me to do. I'm a homebrewer!!

I don't want to completely kick beer from my life.

    JUDG -
When my husband came home and said that's what the local butcher told him it clicked and I said did you hear what you just said...grains to fatten. Now how different is the biology from cow to human? Omit grains lean up?.....lol

    grokgrok -
I haven't had a beer or any alcohol for 7 days now....gosh that sounds so temporary. But seriously limiting my beer to a couple per weekend seems to be a good evil. i drink Mich. Ultra. I know it's water, but since I can't have hard liquor ( My body doesn't produce enough of a particular enzyme to process hard/concentrated alcohol) and no red wine and Mich Ultra has only 2.6 carbs per beer, it's nice to sit back and have a couple with the hubs. If we are out somewhere and I happen to be able to get a lager I order one and that's it. But for now it's NO alcohol, just for now. lol

184.5 this morning I have been feeling funky for the last week -
I believe it has to do with school and the new schedule.
Respiratory care class is mainly memorization of equations, chemistry and physics. Not too detailed, but it relates to RT.
Also next weekend we are supposed to do the brain lab we didn't get to do this past weekend. I was kind of bummed about that.
We did go to the trackside grill and I had a chicken dish (as the fish was breaded) and a salad and double veggies for our sides. DH did really well we did have beer he had 3 I had 1 1/2 then water. it was a good dinner. Saturday after class I made it to the gym and did some weights for shoulders/triceps/biceps not much but just enough for some resistance. Then I walked outside for 1 hour about 2.5 miles. I was pooped.
    Planned for today
    b - cottage cheese + blueberries +strawberries
s - boiled egg (if snacky) or grapes
    L - squash/zucchini + about 1/2 cup chicken salad
S - yogurt for after lunch
D - TBD but probably gonna be scrambled eggs

I would like to go walking today I am trying to get in touch with my friend to see if she'd like to go with me. The sun has been setting a lot sooner that usual marking the begining of my favorite season.

I have decided to go Christmas shopping early this year to avoid the rush - DS is already hitting me up for xmas. lol.

Christmas??????? I'm still clinging to the last threads of summer! Please don't be Fall yet!!!! As I was doing my hour walk yesterday I was watching the leaves falling and blowing around the streets. I SO HATE FALL! I'm a Springtime girl! Everything comes back to life and is warm and active and lovely! Fall makes me sad............... But, I've lived through 51 of them - and here comes 52! I just get through Fall and Winter knowing that SPRING is coming!

Funny how we all have our different favorite seasons...... Relish the changing colors and chill in the air on your walk today!

    my motivation

    As per Marcadav:
    Do 30-60 days clean primal.
    No grains, sugar, alcohol.
Eat 3 meals and primal snacks.
    Don't track food.
    Don't tweak.
Don't expect issues to go away quickly. Instead, just follow the plan and see how things play out.
Decide on an exercise plan you can/will do consistently during the 30-60 days and then do it.
