    side dishes at cookouts

    Shop Now
Alright my wife and I are going primal and are excited to take the plunge. We enjoy having people over for cookouts during the summer(almost once a week) and we need some help figuring out primal side dishes.

The meat is easy -burgers(without bun of course) ,steak, chicken, etc

What about those side dishes though. How do we replace Macaroni Salad, Pasta Salad, Potato Salad with dishes that our guests will like and are primal

potato salad is still a good option, but you will want to use primal ingredients. instead of pasta salad, you could make coleslaw, or actual salad. even before going primal, if i saw a big bowl filled with all kinds of colors and fresh veggies sprinkled with a little olive and vinegar or lemony dressing, i would have gone after the veggies.
plus, cucumber salad is a great option, and a beet and carrot salad. and, or course, more meat.

lots of us here eat potatoes. they're not ideal for low carb eaters, but other than that there really isn't anything bad in them (well, the skins aren't great).

Grilled vegetable platter; assorted squash, colorful peppers, eggplant, mushrooms. I also like to steam or boil whole sweet potatoes so they are just starting to get tender, let them cool then cut thick slices, put a little oil on them and grill them. When they are done you can put a little chipotle butter on them. Summer is great time to start eating primal, there are so many delicious fruits and veggies and who doesn't like grilled meat?

We do fruit kebabs as a dessert too. The only drawback is that they take far less time to eat than to prepare.

straight up regular salad. Cukes, tomatoes, baby greens, maybe some rainbow bell peppers. Make it colorful. You can have a fruit platter too.
