    Morning:
    Water
    Coffee (black, no sweetener)

    Around 10:30 am
    Leftover roast chicken (roasted only in kosher salt)
    Salad: romaine, bell peppers

    1:45 pm
    More leftover roast chicken
    Romaine
    Apple (medium)
    Water

    6:15 pm
    Homemade meatballs (1 lb ground grass-fed beef, 1 egg, spices (garlic, onion, oregano, hot pepper, parsley, basil), in pot of Bove's marinara sauce, cook 40 min covered over med-low flame)
    Spaghetti squash
    Water

    9:30 pm
    1 cup (ish) organic strawberries
    small handful raw macadamias

    Vitamins
    3 Omega-3/fish oil (3,000 g)
    1 Vitamin D3 (5,000 IUs)

    WOD
    50-minute walk around the neighborhood

    Notes
    Okay, Day 1 rocked! This evening after dinner I went to a supermarket 20 minutes away to get 3 dozen pasture-raised eggs (favorite kind), so I'm all stocked up!

    Hi. I'm a newbie. I found this site about a week ago and have been pretty much paleo all week. Can you point me to a description of Whole30?
    I've been gluten free for about 10 years and dairy free for about a year.
    I really love the recipe ideas on this site and would love to join this thread to get me through the next 30 days.

    Marthat, do you know how to convert the milk kefir grains into water grains. I looked into both when I started but haven't seen anything on converting them. I will have to look harder because I don't want my grains to die off while I do this. I will also look into how long grains can be stored with fresh milk to keep them alive. Thanks for the advice, a little sad about giving up my kefir but if it is for the greater good I will have to do it.

    Just found a way to convert the grains, Marthat, thank you so much for the suggestion. I am going to keep some of my milk grains going with milk but I will convert some into water grains. Thanks again

    Day 1

    Breakfast. Coffee, black

    11:30. 1 can of sardines in olive oil, licked it clean like a good kitty!

    1:00. Salmon salad made with homemade mayo and a small apple. 3/4 cup serving of frozen pineapple
    4:30. Small serving of lamb stew made with lots of tomatoes, carrots and onions
    6:00 black coffee
    7:30. Bacon fried with onions and 2 Deviled eggs. Small apple

    Exercise so far, 45 minutes of walking, will also walk dogs tonight for another 30 minutes

    Feeling pretty grouchy due to waking up too early and having too much to do today of the type of things I don't like, i.e. paperwork. Also, ate cheese yesterday, so today feel gross. Tomorrow will be more fun, lots of socializing.

    Good Day 1 - now on to day 2
    1st June 11 to 30st Aug 11 - 36lb removed in 13 weeks
    Messed about on and off for the rest of the year

    June 2012 - Had the practice - now time to do it for real

    Day 1: Bacon and eggs, coffee with coconut milk (CM), black coffee mid morning. BAS with avocado and tuna in EVOO for lunch, with blackberries and tea. Supper was 2 boneless chicken thighs sauteed in ghee with pepper strips and spinach, wilted in the pan drippings. Delicious. Then my Friday night martini - my intentional cheat. It's an unwinding ritual with hubby - I won't give it up. But it's free of all grains, legumes, sugars, sweeteners, all the bad stuff. Pure alcohol and two olives.

    Supper at a Chinese restaurant tonight with friends. Will be challenging!

    Okay, the route I walked yesterday wound up being just shy of 3 miles in 50 minutes. Not too shabby!

    This morning I have my tournament tae kwon do class. I'm whining already! :P It will be the first time I'm doing the class in months -- and the first time doing it fasted (that is, without having breakfast first; my last food was at 9:30 pm last night - strawberries and macadamias). But I am enjoying some black coffee!
