    Thanks for the comments everyone

It's funny how much life has changed with these ~42lb gone.... and also how much it has stayed the same.

I've decided to do some experimenting for the next 2 weeks, or as long as I can keep this up without it turning into a source of stress.

I'm going to aim for 1200-1400 cals per day (I am mainly sedentary). Non-gym days will be low carb (under 50g) and gym days I'll eat sweet potato, carrots, green beans, and white potato, and probably some vege soups. I want to kick start my losses and it's been quite a long time since I've actually counted calories. Primal has allowed me to drop about 1lb a week without paying attention so I got lazy. I'm also thinking I need to cut dairy again as I have had upset tummies and been quite bloated lately and I'm almost certain that dairy is the cause. I'm hoping I'll be able to jump my losses up to more like 3lb a week.I won't lose at that rate forever but I feel like I need some good losses again.

I started doing this 2 days ago (so today is day 3) and I feel good so far. Just need to finish off the dairy in the fridge and not replace it and hopefully my bloating will disappear. I definitely have much better workouts and can lift more weight on higher carb days

So a bit of an update.

Am now at 238.5lb / 108.2kg. This was my weight in my final year of high school, 3 years ago. On one hand I'm really annoyed that I let myself balloon bigger after that, on the other hand I know it's stupid to regret the past and I just need to be happy that I have undone my last 3 years of bad choices. I am 79% of the way to my first goal of 227lb / 103kg. That weight is my first goal because it's the lowest weight I can ever remember being while still being fat. I got fat very rapidly and I can't remember any numbers between about 70kg and 103kg, literally. So getting to 102.9kg / 227lb will be amazing to me and I think the point where it'll really hit me in the face that things are changing.

I have been using a calorie planning tool to work out my intake to lose a certain amount each week etc.
It's really depressing seeing that at this weight and activity level, I can eat ~1100 cals a day and lose a good 1.5kg/3lb per week with some moderate exercise, but when I'm down near my goal weight, if I was to keep the same activity level, I'd have to only eat ~300 cals a day to have the same loss. Obviously that's nuts and I wouldn't do that but it does really bring the point home that I need to create a more active lifestyle for myself so that at a smaller size I'll be able to eat ~1000cals a day and still lose weight. Then once I reach my goal I'll obviously let my calorie intake jump up to my maintenance amount.

I updated some measurements today. My waist has gone from ~41inches to ~35inches, and my hips from ~53inches to ~49inches. Pretty pleased about that. Ultimately I'd like my waist to be about 27inches and my hips 40inches (have always had a pear shape so no point wishing for 37 hips or anything haha).

I have not replaced any dairy in my fridge so right now the only dairy intake I'm getting is parmesan cheese, which is supposed to be low lactose anyway. I still feel bloated but I don't know if I really am or if I'm just adjusted to my new size and am no longer appreciating looking smaller haha.

Have been reading about fructose and decided to check my fructose intake. The only fruit I eat is berries in a smoothie (which I add pure vitamin C to and make sure I have every day because I work in the medical field & need to resist illness!) so it came out that I'm having about 14g of fructose a day which is ok. It's funny sometimes when I realise I literally don't eat anything out of packets anymore, so high fructose corn syrup hasn't entered my body for months!

Lately I have only been eating 2 meals a day. Usually I have a big brunch around 11am of bacon & egg omelet with spinach, onion and avocado, then for dinner I have fish/steak/chicken with broccoli or carrots or roast veges or soup or salad. I also indulge in nuts & dark 70% or 72% choc.

I'm finding on gym days, when I eat higher carb, that I am getting hungrier and finding it more difficult to keep my calories under control. I suppose it is worth it for the better performance in the gym though.

Life is good right now. I'm still impatient about my losses and want to lose faster and am constantly looking at the calendar and trying to predict how slim I can be by day x hahah but I know I'll get there eventually and I'm trying not to overthink things and just let them happen.

Things still going well. Went out with a friend last night for thai food so that meal was not primal but meh there's the 20%

That's what I love about primal, that now that I'm educated I can still live my life and be ok with those choices because I know I'll always default back into the proper eating when I'm home.

My grocery bill seems to be down and I think it's because I have so much frozen meat all I'm really buying each week is tea, veges, berries, and dark choc! I am enjoying the cheaper bills hahah.

Tonight is legs at the gym. Can't wait. I do each muscle group once a week and even that feels like it's not enough cause I enjoy it so much but after watching Doug Mcguff and other primal/paleo speakers on fitness I understand that we need that recovery time. I guess it's just more motivation to make sure I really make the workout as intense as possible since I am only able to do it once a week

Only had 1 huge meal today. Potato & leek soup, a raspberry/boysenberry smoothie, and a roast vege salad of sweet potato, carrot, green beans, chicken breast, bacon, avocado, basil pesto, capers, spinach, and some other goodies. Gotta love these high carb days for weights.
I always have this fear that I'm gonna eat high carb and then not go to the gym (cause something comes up or I just get lazy or something) and I'll just have had a huge carb intake and not burn it off! Haha terrible. I have done literally nothing besides walk around my house/workplace today so if I don't end up at the gym theres no way those carbs will be burnt. Motivation! Lol.

So much random hyped energy, gosh darn carbs on gym day!!!!

Copying & pasting my current gym regime in here for potential future reference... don't know why I'd ever need to look back on it but you never know :P

    Sunday (leg day):
50 mins cardio (150bpm or lower ~75% max heart rate)
Leg press (3 sets of 3x12)
Calf raise (3 sets of 2x20)
Leg extension (3 sets of 3x12)
Leg curl (3 sets of 3x12)

    Tuesday (Arm/chest day):
50 mins cardio (150bpm or lower ~75% max heart rate)
Bicep curl (4 sets of 3x15)
Lateral raises (2 sets of 2x12) (only because I'm so shit at them and literally can't do any more lol)
Chest press (3 sets of 3x12)
Tricep cable pull down (3 sets of 3x12)

    Thursday:
1 hour cardio (150bpm or lower ~75% max heart rate)

Has been a while since posting. Current details:
234.1lb, 48.3lb lost. So 87% progress to my first goal of 227lb (which is just under the lowest weight I can ever remember being since I got fat in the first place!)

I have sort of stopped carb cycling. I wasn't really getting results so right now am back in pure low carb mode, except I have generally 1 day a week for higher carb but it's not planned and it usually just happens because of socialising.

Feeling pretty alright. Finally fit into a new piece of clothing I bought for motivation! Has been sitting around daunting me for like 2 months but it fits!!! JUST.

Going to the doc tomorrow. I have suspected for a long time that I have excess androgens but I hate visiting the doc! Ironic considering I work at a medical centre and have studied medical science.... bah, no idea why I hate it but I do! Maybe because it's like admitting your weaknesses to them. Probably going to ask for an antiadrogenic birth control pill because that may also help my constant low iron if I skip my time of the month! Talk about 2 birds with one stone!

Hey nixxy, so much of what you say resonates with me. Including the shape! How tall are you?

Curious as to how you gained that much, and I hope the background doesn't continue to haunt your efforts.

You are doing really really well and those changes to your body, clearly obvious in your photos, are just fantastic. I hope you stay on track because you have made amazing progress, but I know living through it it doesn't feel like it and it is easy to feel despondent. Fingers crossed for the doc tomorrow x

    5ft6 / 1.68m tall

I gained all the weight when I had anxiety/depression. I was put on a lot of medication and sedatives, which meant I basically stayed in bed all day, and it just spiraled. I was in a very bad place though so they couldn't take me off them even though my weight was ballooning.

I have been depression/anxiety free since about 2009 so no, it no longer hinders my efforts. It just took me a few years to actually start making an effort lol. I think once I was off the medications and in a better headspace, I just looked at myself and realised how much weight I had to lose and was just too daunted by the prospect to even start

Went to the doc... she thinks I have PCOS

To be honest I am not surprised, considering it's all tied up with insulin resistance and I have like 90% of the symptoms. Still annoying though

I am hoping I can be one of those lucky people who lose weight and lose all their symptoms of PCOS as well.
