    Compound movements? To make it faster?

    Can anyone enlighten me please? I was looking through the fitness ebook from MDA and I got to thinking, is there a way to combine the essential movements to make a more efficient workout? Does it hinder the overall goal? Such as an overhead press combined with a squat? Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

    Depends on your goals. If you're just looking to simply exercise a little and get in shape then it should be fine. If you want more strength though I'd focus on doing one at a time. Also...go Fort Worth!

    The routine that MArk suggests only takes about 20 minutes if you move quickly to each new exercise. Much shorter and I don't think it would be as beneficial.

    You would limit your squat to what you could press.

    It just sounds dangerous really. You won't be able to focus on your form properly, and will limit the amounts of weights you use. What you can squat would be well above what you could shoulder press.

    A squat combined with an over head press is called a thruster. Its a great excercise and you can totally follow your form. You can also do it three different ways: two handed dumbbells, unilateral dumbbell and with a barbell. I think its a really good excercise for building muscular endurance as well as explosiveness in your hips. The unilateral dumbbell method is a corps killer to because your off balance and half to us your stabilizers.

    I actually like to use it as a finisher after a heavy strength day.
