Ok if no-one has tried ghee, any other suggestion for an OK oil to put in mayo, I really like colslawbut want to cut out the shops nasty rape-seed oil and cheap vinager stuff.
Hey, anyone tried this?
Coconut oil is stupid exspensive in the uk, cold pressed olive oil dosn't taste right in mayo or nut butters, lard really is not going down the right route imho. So I'm thinking ghee might be a cheaper alternative that doesn't involve nasty chemically stripped fats like rapeseed oil.
Soooooo, Yummmy or just wrong?????

I haven't researched it yet for it's primalness, but I've been using Kraft Mayo made with olive oil. I didn't purge it when I switched to primal because olive oil was on the safe list, but I really haven't looked into what else it may contain simply because I only use it once in a great while, and not since going primal.
Good luck!

If you use olive oil labelled light/extra-light, it will have less taste in your mayo. You should still be able to find one that's not chemically processed. Light in this case refers to taste, not composition. I do not like the extra-virgin olive oil in mayo, but I use the light stuff quite happily.
Ghee might be a problem if you want to put your mayo in the fridge--I'd think you'd have the same issue as with coconut oil mayo, which is that it gets too solid. Maybe try it mixed with another oil 50/50 so it's not too hard?

I've got some un-salted butter so I'm gonna try ghee, it might be ok in the fridge as it's liquid at room temp, never used ghee before. I will try avacodo oil if this fails. having read Marks post on oils it seems that everything apart from extra virgin olive oil is best avoided for regualar consuption, even nut oils as they can go rancid.
I'll let you all know if I's gross or tasty![]()
I also very much like my new blender![]()
