I know that when running in vffs, you are supposed to strike the ground with your forefoot. This feels good, and I naturaly do this without thinking about it. When walking though, a forefoot strike feels akward and a heel strike hurts. How does everyone else walk in thier vibrams?

    Very softly. :P

I walk with slow strides, hips relaxed, knees slightly bent. Kind of like a martial artist.

I walk with a quite neutral foot when barefoot. Just walk around in them for a while and have someone distract you as you do it to see how your foot naturally falls with them.

Like the Kwai Chang Caine rice paper walk?

I agree with Katt, make like a ninja and stalk something down

Seriously though, I find myself walking with shorter strides and putting either my forefoot or whole foot down by bending my ankle. Shoes don't tend to make ankle bending useful (or really very possible) but the VFF's are awesome that way.

Ya it takes a slightly shorter stride I think. I tend to strike midfoot walking, and more forefoot when running. I was so used to "power-walking" before, had to get everywhere in the least amount of time possible, that it did take a while to get used to shorter, more relaxed walking strides.

Kind of related -- have you ever noticed how little kids will seldom walk anywhere? They're always running to where they want to go, and when they do walk it's more of a stalking motion as they check out something that interests them. It just makes me wonder how much we're designed to "walk" in the way we do now.

You lousy kids! Get off my savannah!
