it looks like kids who spend more time playing outdoors have a lower incidence of myopia (nearsightedness).

I spent a ton of time outdoors as a kid and I'm still horribly myopic. But I also read all the time. All my sibs are myopic, and my parents, so I know there's some genetic component. But my kids are fine. I hate being blind. WIthout my glasses or contacts I am totally helpless.

I would be really interested in hearing about if/how/how much you can change your eyesight with lifestyle/diet. My brother who was obese went on a low carb diet because he was diagnosed T2 diabetes and experienced an almost immediate change in his eyesight. What's behind that?
