It's not inappropriate at all...that's why she gained the weight. She's being honest. And she didn't bring it up out of nowhere, she said it after it was assumed she gained weight for a different reason. There's a big difference between weight gain from trauma (does saying that instead make you more comfortable?) and from being young and growing.
I'd ask the OP if she's completely "over" the stress and emotional issues, if that's why the weight was gained in the first place then it could be hard to take it off with all that stuff still brewing. Not that you really get over something like that, but at least reduce the emotional turmoil. When I get stressed I eat and gain weight easy, can't imagine the stress level after having gone through something like that.

Focus on eating healthy and enjoying moving. Don't exercise because you have to, I've found it will do more harm than good as it raises cortisol levels. Definitely get back to tennis if you prefer that. Spend this summer fully healing from your experience (been there, too hard to type out the word) sot that you can go to college emotionally strong.
I have to admit, 5'4" and 125lbs sounds pretty healthy to me, considering 145lbs is the top of the range. So maybe just focus on building muscle?
I think that it's possible for you to get to your goal weight or close to as you get into the diet/lifestyle of primal.
In addition, i lost weight when I started university because my lifestyle changed. I was already eating well and fairly active -- but walking to and from class added another level. I'd also increased my activity by taking african dance classes for fun. So, i was playing sports, walking everywhere, taking yoga and dance classes. Eating well. Pretty active.
So, it's possible to not gain weight in uni -- so far as you avoid the binge eat/drink process.
Hey AlexD, you might be interested in reading a book by Jon Gabriel (The Gabriel Method) as he talks a lot about the emotional causes of weight gain and trauma such as you have been through is definitely a trigger to gain weight in some (many) people. In a sense, your gain of 15 pounds was your body's subconscious attempt to "protect" you and keep you safe. While the Primal Blueprint is brilliant as a diet tool, it doesn't deal with the emotional aspects of weight gain.

I am the same height as you AlexD, but weight 147llbs. But then Im older than you - by quite a bit!
At 17, your body is still changing, in shape and weight and possibly height also.
IMHO your trying to get back to how you were before the tramatic event you mentioned. You are changing from a girl to a woman and the weight you seek is not a very healthy weight for a young woman but is ok for a little girl. You cant go back in time, as much as most of us owuld probably like to do. I know its easy for me to say put it behind you but thats exactly what you have to do. Trust me - I know what Im talking about here!
Go with the changes - you might feel more comfortable with it in the long run!![]()
I'm not a complete idiot! There's parts missing!!
