Was your credit card # stolen after ordering from Tropical Traditions?

    Primal Fuel
I had not used my credit card in about 6 months.
Placed an order online with Tropical Traditions.
    Received my order.
The credit card company called and read a list of charges I didn't make.
My credit card number was stolen and now I have to get a new card.

I can't help but wonder if there's a connection to my card number being stolen and that order to Tropical Traditions?

    Has this happened to you?

Possible, but also consider you might have something on your own PC - key logger, hijacker, trojan, whatever.
Have you run a scan on the PC?

Oh yes -- I'm so secure I can't use my computer 1/2 the time! My son is a computer specialist and keeps things up to par on a weekly basis.

Actually, Tropical Traditions is one of the few online companies that does NOT store credit card information. When you enter it, it goes directly to the processor via secure connection. So it is impossible for anyone to steal credit card information from the Tropical Traditions secure purchase site. The site is also scanned every day by a third party system for any security threats.

Well, that's reassuring and timely - I'm just about ready to place another order. Thanks!

It's possible, but my aunt had her credit card stolen even though she had never used it. I guess there are some pretty impressive/horrible ways using random card number generators. They take names and try random card numbers on them (millions of numbers) to try to make $1 purchases. If a purchase goes through they keep that number and then start spending. Do you see any $1-3 charges on your accounts?
Using low lectin/nightshade free primal to control autoimmune arthritis. (And lost 50 lbs along the way )

I have ordered from TT several times and never had an issue.

This happened to my husband. The credit card company caught the unusual activity and called him and he got a new card issued.

Yep, when the cc company called me, they read off several smaller charges I didn't make -- then an $800 one I didn't make.
What you describe sounds very possible in my case. Thanks!

I own a business and people have called me accusing us of somehow compromising their cc (when it isn't possible, as we have none of their cc's even in a computer), so I'm sorry to bring Tropical Tradiditons into this discussion. I was happy with their products and just wondered if I should order again. I WILL!

I had a charge on our credit card for a target store in california. We live in Iowa and neither of us have been to California and I have physical possession of the card. I was told people are doing just what was described above and then making cards to be used. They said it was used IN-STORE, not online when the fraudulent purchases were made. Scary!

I also consulted with a computer repair company (not best buy) after this happened and asked if it was possible that I have a keylogger on my computer. He said it's nearly impossible and rattled off some computer crap I didn't understand. Found out later that Mastercard had it's database hacked and that's the likely cause of our credit card number being accessed. Our credit union quickly switched to Visa immediately following. For the record, I had 3 card numbers taken in and around that time, 2 mastercards, 1 visa... so who knows...
