Talking Anyone else notice no migraines on PB?

    Primal Fuel
So for years, I have dealt with seasonal migraines. Wicked pain that only seemed to respond to spending 12-24 hours in a dark, cool room and sleeping. These headaches would come about every 3 to 4 months. I always just thought it was a stress response. However, I started converting to a Primal diet in December with a full conversion by mid-January 2012. My last headache was in November.

Doesn't hurt that I've lost 34 lbs and I feel great, but not having the old headaches is worth every bacon-wrapped second!
It doesn't matter how many times you are knocked down. It matters how many times you get back up.

The frequency of mine slowed down considerably when I went Primal, but I was still getting them. It went from about once a week (lasting 3 days) to maybe once a month or so.

I have an insame amount of triggers - bad sleep, excess caffeine, sodium nitrite (processed meat, including celery salt), sulfites (commercially dried fruit and wine, even if it's just marinated in it), hormone shifts, sudden severe stress and drops in barometric pressure (incoming storms). Yeah, it really sucked.

Then I started supplementing with magnesium and the only time I get them is when I forget to take it. I probably take more than a normal person should (1000 mg) but that's the level that works for me.

Gluten intolerance can cause migraines, for best migraine reduction the 80/20 rule will not work when it comes to gluten.

Actually, yeah, I was just thinking that today. Since Pimal, only 1 migraine (usually it was like once or twice a fortnight!) and my gut isn't half as regularly freaked out. No progress on skin though.

Haven't had one since I started in February. I used to have them twice a month and they were awful. I would slam Excedrin and prescription nausea pills they give to cancer patients. Getting rid of those is one of the best things about PB. I take magnesium too to make sure they stay away.

I've been getting migraines since I was little. My mom gets them pretty bad and one of my brothers too. When I was competitively swimming in high school, I would get them no less than once a week and they would be so bad that I would throw up on the drive home. That was the worse they ever were and I'm pretty sure it was made worse by stress and a crap diet. Typically though, I would get them a few times a month and be useless for the rest of the day.

I ate close to primal for a while before finding out about pb, so they had been getting better, but I really only ever get them now if I'm not eating cleanly enough (or after too many drinks). And when I do get one, it's much easier to get rid of. It's actually a convenient excuse to not eat grains/processed/crap foods when people try to push them on me too, especially with anyone who has ever had a migraine.

I'm pleased to hear this way of eating has had positive results for migraine sufferers. I have at least 1 a week and have many triggers including sulphites and msg being the main things added to food. I want to cut everything out with additives in and this has drawn me towards the paleo way. I need to do some planning before i get stuck in but i'm looking forward to cleaning up my diet and clearing my head

This sounds like someone sneaked in and read my list - just add cheese and citrus! I suffered migraines all my life, Mum said I used to beat my head on the cot bars and scream (dr said I was 'spoilt') - up to 3 a week - usually just one dayers (I'd learned the 'best' drugs to nip them quickly in the bud) but the occasional '3 day screamer' and of course I still felt awful the next day.

In Sept 2005 I went low carb (Atkins) and after a week or two my partner pointed out I had not suffered a migraine since I began eating that 'weird food'. Yep, good ole gluten was the culprit and I have not had one since 13 Sept 2005! I do still get slight pressure headaches at drops in barometric pressure and if I am very tired, am oranges will set me off too.

And since giving up ALL grains on Primal - a few months now - I feel even better!

Since my late 20s (I'm now 45) I had migraines on average 6 times a month, especially at certain times of the month. I was diagnosed with a functional bowel disorder and severe intolerances to dairy, wheat, corn, certain veges, and (sob sob) caffeine late last year and since eliminating these foods from my diet, I haven't had one single migraine I'm also 18.5kg lighter and my innards are much happier too - no more proton pump inhibitors and antacids for me!
