Is a 48 hour fast the same as two 24 hour fasts?

This might be a dumb question, but I really like Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat program. I've done it off and on and I love how I feel after a fast. I like to do two 24 hour fasts a week, but I never plan when I'm going to do them ahead of time. Instead of doing two separate 24 hour fasts, would I get the same benefits from doing one 48 hour fast?

I don't know for sure but I strongly suspect that you get some different things happening in your body with a 48 hour fast. 48-72 hours is the time when a lot of people who fast for a week or more at a time feel most uncomfortable.

Thanks! I've never done a solid 48 hour fast before. I think the longest I've done is more around 30 hours. I don't plan to torture myself; for example, if it's been over 24 hours and I'm having a hard time, then I will eat.

It will also depend if your body is a fat- versus sugar- burner. I recently did a 3 1/2 day fast. I have been low-carb for months, so I did not have the 'crash'. I didn't even start getting hungry until the 46 hour mark. So, if you are already keto-adapted, you may feel fine.
