    How much coconut oil is too much?

    Today, I was reading an article about uses for coconut oil and it said someone of my weight should consume 3-4 tablespoons of the stuff daily. I love me some coconut oil, but that seems a little excessive. Thoughts?

    It does have some great therapeutic properties. Outside of gut healing or other particular issues though, I would just use it to cook with and as an occassional snack.

    I usually only have 1 tablespoon a day, sometimes two. I use it in my coffee. Sometimes I cook with it too, but I find that any more than 2 and I feel nauseous. I've never gotten sick yet, but I feel awful from too much.

    there's no point in forcing yourself to consume a certain amount of any particular food each day.

    Too much would be when it crowds out your meat and veggies and leaves you nutrient-deprived. There's no reason to avoid it, three or four tablespoons really isn't that much if it's the only fat you're adding to your food.
    Steak, eggs, potatoes - fruits, nuts, berries and forage. Coconut milk and potent herbs and spices. Tea instead of coffee now and teeny amounts of kelp daily. Let's see how this does! Not really had dairy much, and gut seems better for it.

    Thanks everyone. I probably use 1-2 a day with other fats included. I guess I can't fathom using that much coconut oil! Haha

    I love coconut oil and cook everything in it, so I whip through about 6 tablespoons a day without trying.

    I don't understand CO as a supplement. Use it in cooking to make meat and veggies tasty.

    Whenever I use coconut oil to cook, I take it out of the jar with a spoon and after putting one or two spoonfuls in the pan, I take a final spoonful and put it straight in to my mouth. That's a good way of doubling your total consumption. Although I guess if you live in a climate where Coconut Oil is solid in the jar, this might not be as easy.
