I see a market for a commercially produced primal mayo! As far as I can tell, there is nothing even close. I'm going to try it with light OO and add in some ghee, maybe it will be to my taste. That could be a bad thing, as I will then devote all my time to making and eating primal mayo.

Actually MCT's (Medium chain triglycerides) are processed palm and coconut oil but can be beneficial in some cases - they are natural oils their chemical nature has been altered to fit together differently than regular Triglycerides.
Here is a webMD article on them

I've never, ever tried to make mayo.
I wouldn't know where to start, so yes, I'd buy it!

Good link, Ecks, thanks. I found it interesting that coconut oil is 60% MCT. I've got that on hand...

I've been AWOL the last couple of days. Life was piling up, lots of activity while I was rather on the tired side, and I just got into one of my "I am sick and tired of keeping track" moods. I get those. So I didn't keep my journal at all, and had more mini-meals than real ones anyway. No cheating, and still managed to drop a bit more weight, so overall, I'm pleased. I would be more pleased if I was less tired, but babysitting the boys when I was sleep-deprived (what else can you do? Can't cancel a commitment at the last moment just because you've had a less than stellar night's sleep.) was a double-whammy I'm having trouble recovering from, especially because small things keep coming at me. Going to try to be as quiet as possible today, but I promised hubby a night at Italian Week, complete with a gelato. *sigh*

We did try Longing2befit's summer sherbets yesterday, with watermelon and berries. It was a great hit, and should help a lot in dealing with Hubby's sweet tooth. He's primal at home, and definitely not when at his parents'. Seeing as he is there a lot, because they are elderly and have lots of appointments and errands, that's a lot. And of course his mother feeds him every time. I was there yesterday, and nuked myself a sweet potato, topped it with butter and had a red pepper and a few tomato slices to go with it. Filled my plate and my tummy and had protein when I got home to balance things out. Hey, her stuffed eggplant is to die for, but it's full of breadcrumbs. I am not only finding it easy to not cheat, I seem to be terrified of it.

My go-to indulgence for the time being is coconut oil, with a little cocoa powder (the dark stuff) and pure stevia (the stuff with no additives, and a teeny-tiny scoop) stirred in, eaten in tiny little globs off the end of the spoon. When it warms up a bit more, I'll probably have to add something to make it solid. We're headed for warm weather, so the coconut oil will be liquid all day. Anyway, that is apparently giving me MCT's and no bad stuff, so all is good.

Welcome back and congrats on dropping a bit more weight. While I'm not sure being terrified of cheating is a good frame of mind to be in, it's really good that you aren't tempted at his mother's, despite her carb-focused cooking. Do you ever add a bit of cinnamon to the butter for the sweet potato? A simple favorite of mine.

Ohhh. never thought to mix coconut oil & cocoa & stevia. It's already warm enough here, that my coconut oil went to liquid a few days ago and has remained so. Might put a small bit in the fridge, just so I can try your sweet concoction (maybe even with some walnuts).

Also, I tried the Bacon Mayo again, and yet again, the emulsion broke, this time much sooner though, so at least I didn't waste all the bacon fat. Not sure what my deal is, I was super extra careful, dripping in oil much more slowly this time, and poof, it just went to liquid about half way in. I wonder if the room temperature has something to do with it - was probably mid 80's in our kitchen both times I tried. So I'm setting that recipe aside for now. Hope you have better luck. It smelled amazing.

Hi Dash. No, hadn't thought of cinnamon. I'll try it. I'm a great believer in adding herbs and spices to things.

Tomi, I hope all that went well. We were busy with Father's Day celebrations plus Italian Week and I just kind of imploded some time this afternoon. I usually have trouble falling asleep even for naps but I conked right out.

Anyway, let's start with yesterday's report. I couldn't get on the Internet yesterday or today. Settled the problem this evening by unplugging the router for two seconds and plugging it back in.

    Health journal June 16, 2012

Sleep: 9-10 hours. Started too late, so still tired.

    Weight: 152.6

    Food
    Vitamins: check. Added CoQ10.
Breakfast: Gr. yogurt with blackberries, slivered almonds, seeds, and a wee bit of apple butter
    Lunch: Banana with almond butter
Supper: Tin of sardines with one small purple sweet potato, red pepper
Snacks: Coconut oil with cocoa and stevia, 2 Brazil nuts, 1 espresso with sugar, 1 large sausage, piece of dark chocolate.

    Exercise: slow walk

Activities: Emptied dishwasher, rested a lot

Comments: Managed to talk Hubby into a sausage instead of gelato. And he threw out most of the bun. That was sacrifice!
