congrats on the new baby! We have a new great nephew due in about 9 weeks also. Due date is very close to my birthday - so I'm hopeful I will have a shared birthday with this one!

Hope you got some rest after all that excitement!

Basil Donald Antonio... The two-year-old got the deciding vote, apparently. Mommy and Daddy couldn't reach a consensus, so they let Elijah pick from a list of possibilities. LOL! The other two names are great-grandfathers, one from each side of the family.

Oh boy... It caught up with me yesterday. I spent the morning making cabbage rolls and a big bowl of salad greens to be used in my BAS's (I call them everything salads, because I throw everything available into them until it looks like enough). Sometime after supper I was so dizzy I could feel it even just sitting watching a movie with the Professor, so he sent me to bed, stuck a pillow under my feet and ordered me not to move. Yes sir! *salute*

We'll be babysitting the two older grandsons overnight tomorrow, to give the parents a bit of a break. But it will be at my place, where I know where everything is, and where doting grandpa is fully aware that he is the babysitter and I am back-up. Car Salesman Son, who is on his last week under our roof, is also a very doting uncle - you know, the kind who teaches babies to say "Pound it, bro!" - so the burden won't be too heavy on me. And I do love having them here. They are very sociable little boys, and are quite used to being away from their parents without fussing. Usually.

My weight really isn't budging. Maybe there is something to women needing more carbs. I was losing more at the beginning when I cheated more regularly. Or maybe it's something else. I'll just have to feel my way till I have it figured out. At least it's not coming back on, which is always a good thing.

I have been pretty frustrated with my energy levels lately. I've slid backwards in that department too. I know there's been a fair bit going on, but I've tried to be reasonable in my activities, and I really was hoping I would be able to handle daily life without getting submerged. Not there yet.

Anyway, I decided to make up some cookies, the butter-almond meal ones I'd made before. Very nice, but a treat to be taken in small quantities because of the maple syrup. Don't want to take too much of a sugar hit. I also mixed up a wee bit of arrowroot flour with some almond meal and a smidgeon of baking soda, with stevia powder, melted butter and vanilla, just to see what the results would be. It would give me a bit of carbs without adding sugar. The result was pretty thick, so I made balls and flattened them like peanut butter cookies. They were really quite good, except I still really can't say I like the bitter aftertaste of the stevia.

So a question for you guys: how bad is Sucralose? I still have some around from way back when. I know it's not as bad as aspartame, and I really would prefer to avoid artificial things, but the cheapie in me wants to use it up, and arrowroot cookies seem like as good a way as any to do so. Any thoughts?

Luke and I use dates for sweetener. It hardly takes any to sweeten things. I chop them really small. Luke food processes them. I think they work nicely, and they don't leave any weird taste. I always think of one date equalling about 1 teaspoon of sugar. Just an idea. I try to avoid the processed -oses!

Hi Judg! 3 days away so I had some catching up to do! I wanted to tell you that I also had a backslide on the energy level. Mine came about 3 months after going primal. Thats when I started initiating all the bloodwork and saliva tests to see if there was something metabolic happening. All my bloodwork was good so far, except a pretty low/normal B12. Might have to do the shots? I don't get the results of the saliva test until the 7th. I was thinking it could be just the normal ups and downs of having fibro/chronic fatigue - but not nearly as low as they used to be. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not cured - I'm just better. I have noticed by energy levels coming back up again in the past couple weeks - so probably is the normal cycles of the illness. Something for you to consider.

That makes sense. I am just hoping that I have not seen the end of improving.

I find the more I get myself moving the more I'm able to do........ but - I'm much further into the healing time that you are - so just continue to take it easy, but don't be affraid to challenge yourself just a bit each time you do something. That 14 mile bike ride I took on Saturday would have been absolutely impossible 6 months ago, and extremely difficult 3 months ago - but now is totally do-able. But that also does not mean I don't need a little recovery time still........... yesterday and today I've been dragging my keester all day! Had to work both days for just a few hours each, but didn't do much else. I managed to walk a mile this morning - but it wasn't easy. By the end of the week I hope to be back up to my 2.75 miles. But, we'll see.......... You will get better, it just takes time. Give it a good year.............
