Thanks, Siobhan. I haven't conquered it yet, but it has been pushed back a ways. I hope there's room for a lot more pushing. As for staying primal, well, it is a major hope for me right now, so it's much more powerful than temptation. Not enough to beat my finger-licking, sampling ways in the kitchen though. I managed to ingest some of that vegan cake (flour, canola oil, sugar!) in its raw form out of sheer force of habit. It wasn't that much and I did have supper afterwards, so I'm thinking I shouldn't feel too many repercussions even if I do have a heightened intolerance to grains. We shall see. But that was an experiment I had been hoping to put off till the end of four or even six weeks. Oh well. I also would rather have done it on a day when I was feeling really good, so I wouldn't be wondering about alternate causes if I did feel yucky. As a scientist, I obviously have a long way to go!

Fortunately, I actually like eating healthy, so that part is easy. I've been eating BAS for years, except I call it an everything salad. Love gourmet salads of all descriptions basically.

One of my Mother's Day bouquets had this card attached:
    With Deepest Sympathy...
We're sorry you had to have all 5 of us...
    Kudos to you for surviving.

And that pretty much tells you what kind of kids I've got.

    OK, today's report.

    Health journal May 13, 2012

    Sleep: 7.5 hours

Weight: 157. Okay, what's up with that? It better be "backlog". Tomorrow will likely be worse...

    Food
    Vitamins: check
Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, 3 strips of bacon
Lunch: Tomato sauce on sweet potatoes, roasted red peppers, Italian sausage, boiled chicory, coconut pound cake (primal recipe) with fresh strawberries and sugar (that was the cheating part) and whipped cream, also with a wee bit of sugar.
Supper: Are you kidding me? After all that?
Snacks: more coconut pound cake, plain this time. 2 moderate slices, in case you were wondering. And 2 Brazil nuts.

Exercise: Slow walk around the block, perhaps 1k.

Activities: church, Mother's Day/double birthday celebration, lots of talking on the phone, etc.

As I was running from the produce department (strawberries) to the dairy department (at the other end of the store, natch) today, I passed an end display with mandolines (which I just heard of on this forum. Yes, I live under a rock.) so I grabbed me one. Shredded zucchini pasta, here we come.

Both my vegan and my coconut pound cakes were very well received. We didn't have any "normal" cakes at all, but nobody minded. I've had requests for the recipes. Personally, I think the coconut cake was fine, but not that exciting. But other people raved, so there you are.

Less tired today, which was nice. I'm rebounding rather nicely. I'm scheduling a quiet day tomorrow, which is my normal Monday routine. We'll see if everybody else cooperates. And I will finally get a chance to clean up all the baking mess.

I have been very lazy in getting my body to move. I keep telling myself to do it -- but then don't.
Something about this statement inspired me! Now I can do that at night! That plus walking should get me in
the spirit. Lucky I by chance dropped in. Thanks!
