Avocado works for me, either that or greek yogurt. Unfortunately mayo just sucks all the way around unless you take the time to make it yourself.
is there one?
the wife is addicted to making deviled eggs and i cant complain, i LOVE em always have..
the mayo selection sucks and im not good at making my own..

I haven't found one. And I've scoured the shelves at Whole Foods.
Besides, even if the oil is not some scary industrial crap, it's usually in a clear jar just sitting there on the shelf going rancid.
hmmmm avocado ... wonder if that would work as a replacement for the mayo in the eggs .. hmmm .. i do have some too!
crazy good idea .. i wonder .. hmm

Homemade mayo... duck fat or schmaltz mayo in deviled eggs is very good. Or substitutes like avocado... personally I like a mix of avocado and greek yoghurt. The greek yoghurt (or sour cream I suppose, if you wanted) adds a creaminess and zing that the avocado lacks.
Play with it until you find the combo you like... The avocado yields special "Zombie Eggs" as my son dubbed them because they're greenish. He likes a slice of olive on top to complete the picture. LOL
Very tasty!

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.
There was a post on Food Renegade about how store-bought mayo and how even the spectrum brand olive oil mayonnaise was mostly soy/canola. Wilderness Family Naturals makes an expensive mayo w/ no soy or canola that you can order online.
yeah soy oil being ingredient #1 in dang near everyone i can find is NOT cool to me ..
made these just now and topped with a little bacon, pretty good! but i will still miss the true deviled egg until i can find good mayo or until i can make some decent mayo

The Wilderness Family Naturals mayo is really good. I get it through azurestandard.com. I used to make my own but I'm so busy lately.
For the amount I use - a few tablespoons per week - I use my non-primal housemate's Best Foods (Hellmann's back east). Meh. It tastes good and being the most popular mayo, it moves fast through the store.
