    chocolate junkie here too.
Having said that, I killed my two tspn of sugar in my coffee habit but havin a tBspn of sauerkraut with each meal. Took about two weeks. It helps to over-sensitize your palate to sugar (aswell as helps with digetive issues too). I ended up not even finishng the Stevia that I bought as a replacement.
Make sure you by one that doesnt have vinegar in it or DIY.
Now if I want sweet, I'll put a dash of maple syrup in my morning coffee. Usually only once a day.
Now to just be able to kill my chocolate croissant addiction!!!! (at least I only have one if I go to one particular shopping centre)

Sweet things are my biggest challenge, and I simply can't have sweet carby things in the house. I have a family of five, and basically they have to just deal with the fact I won't be buying them any more of the stuff I like but can't have. I'm a stay at home mom, and there is no way I"m going to be alone with stuff all day I want but can't have.

The oldest has a sweet tooth too, and knows that if she buys junk with her money, she either needs to eat it outside the house or put it up in her room. The younger one hasn't been an issue- we have replaced her carby stuff with primal friendly things she likes. She didn't get my sugar-gene.

At first, I was eating waay too much fruit, and still putting sugar in my coffee. Now I've finally gotten the sugar out of my coffee, which was hard. I try to only eat fruit for dessert after dinner - if I have sweet in the morning it makes me want it all day.

Long story short - NO bites is easier than ONE bite for me. I am All Or Nothing Girl (tm) and moderation isn't my thing.

This week I really had too much lately. So Weds. I just stopped cold turkey and focused on VLC, fatty foods, with just a serving of fruit in the am. It did the trick. Gonna eat a few more days like this, kills my energy a bit, then add back in more fruit and starch and whan I want a sweet again, I will have it.

I have a feeling this will be a normal cycle in my life- having to rebalance with regards to sugar, but knowing I can get back under control is a relief.
Thank you for this. You speak sense and I needed to hear this put so eloquently.

There seems to be a lot of fruitophobes on here but I would suggest fruit or dark chocolate (70%+). I used to have problems at night wanting snacks of some kind but now I typically cut 2 navel oranges into 4 pieces each and eat them right off the peel. I rarely crave bad / processed sweets and enjoy the fruit instead. I even take them into the movie theater with me sometimes!

Also, protein bars are not ideal due to processing (soy lecithin, etc) but they make a decent backup so I always have a few around.

I think IF actually makes sugar problem worse for me; I crave sugar that much more after I start eating. The only things that works for me is to skip all sugar including the good one, i.e. fruit. After a few days of sugar avoidance black moods and swings go away, and energy gets steady and appetite stabilizes, with cravings going away.

Tibetian tea helps me - tea with butter and salt- on my high fat days, and a small (5 oz) can of tomato paste over water and ice blended in a 'smoothie' with lime juice, salt and pepper - on the low fat days.

    Me too.
I also find that butter coffee helps.

I also have trouble with pork. I have no moderation with things like bacon or head cheese, cured or uncured. So I turn it into a "nothing" situation with those, unless I am out and someone else is controlling the portion.
