I am already feeling better after a couple of generous primal meals. I am a fat-burning beast, but three days of one small meal a day with hardly any fat have depleted my energy stores. I stopped at the food co-op and bought plenty of clean meat and a big bag of organic salad greens, also some raspberries. Last night I had a horrible headache that wouldn't go away - I NEVER get headaches. Sinus, probably. But I am at work tonight and glad to be here. The more I am around other people, the more I realize what a great life I have. I have worked hard to make it so, but I am grateful for what I have. I am especially grateful for primal living and eating and if I ever meet Mark Sisson I will tell him so.

I am so happy to be back on my happy primal diet and eating good clean food! I had some leafy greens with a poached egg and a pear for dinner. The pear had a weird shape but was just about the best pear I ever ate. I will pick oddly shaped ones from now on.

Woke up after only about 3 hours of broken sleep. Not sleeping well during the day lately! Sleep is a big factor in weight loss. (See Robb Wolff's work.)

There is a concert this afternoon I want to go to, a world famous organist is coming to our humble church. Our organ, however, is not humble and neither is our endowment. We have had a number of wealthy church members die in the last few years who left considerable funds to be used for music at the discretion of the Minister of Music, a wonderful and wise lady who uses it not just for the church members but for the community at large. So it's free! Time to break out the cold-brewed coffee. For some reason cold-brewed doesn't give me acid reflux. I thought I was crazy until I saw the same sentiment expressed by others who seem perfectly rational otherwise.

When I got home from work, very hungry indeed, I ate some beautiful natural ham, uncured with no nitrates or nitrites. Just pork, salt, and very small amount of sugar - less than a gram per serving, which is 2 oz. Who am I kidding, I ate three servings! It is delicious.

LOL. Sounds like a great concert in view!

    And what is cold-brewed coffee?

And now you've made me hungry for ham.

One thing that happened when my friend was here was a bit disturbing. She sat down in a chair - actually my landlord's chair - and leapt up, saying she had been bitten by something. There was a bit of hysteria, and I got a garbage bag and covered the chair, then a clean blanket. She went on about how I am obviously infested. I mentioned the cats haven't been scratching and there is no sign of flea dirt, or of any insect. Yes, I have checked - it is summer and even indoor cats can fall victim to insects that come in on clothing. I have many mosquito bites, but I know where I received all of them! (Outside - it is usually my cue to leave.) Incidentally, the chairs and sofa are swathed in muslin sheets to protect them from said cats since I have no idea how they will react to upholstered furniture and I don't want to find out. I brought home a large stack of fresh clean muslin sheets and stripped all the furniture. Upon stripping the guilty chair, I found two open safety pins in just the spot she said was bitten. I was very relieved! I did, however, continue the project and thoroughly sprayed the furniture with the natural stuff I bought (and very nice it smells, lemongrass and cinnamon) and re-wrapped them in muslin with nice blankets over them. Oh well, it was something that needed to be done. And now I am much better at the covering and am able to secure the muslin over the danger spots much better. Also I need to add that the chairs are in pretty bad shape, very old and kind of nasty looking. I would have requested their removal, but they are big and heavy and let's be honest, pretty comfortable. I don't mind sitting in them or looking at them now they are covered with my colorful blankets.

Ow! Safety pins??? Disturbing in their own right, but at least you don't have to worry about them reproducing.

    Still wondering about cold-brewed coffee.

Well, you take coffee grounds, put them in cold water and stick them in the refrigerator for 10-12 hours, then strain and enjoy. The taste is very different from regular brewed coffee, smoother, less bitter. I prefer it, and of course I prefer my OWN, which I take pride in making properly, and am always disappointed when I see it advertised and try it in a coffee shop. Probably just as well, the cost of my own is cents instead of dollars!

I will have to try that. Just a regular, all-purpose grind? How much do you put in?

I found some ham in the fridge. I thought it was eaten up. The no nitrates kind.

    DCarr, you are too funny.
