I know it sounds gross, but actually it was quite pretty, which was why I initially decided to try to pick it up. Public pools, you've got to love them! Seriously, you have to love them or you will never immerse yourself in them.

Whew! Glad work is over for the week! Nuff about that.

Woke up this afternoon kinda hungry and whipped up some cashew chicken. It was delicious, and there is a lot left. Also half a grapefruit and a little watermelon. I am so glad to be home and away from the stress and temptations at work. Normally I have no trouble resisting, but for some reason I felt weak the past couple of nights and had a hard time walking away from the unhealthy treats. Now I have that great feeling of having eaten a good and satisfying meal and being able to live life without thinking about (or worrying about) what I am going to eat next.

Weird thing - for some reason I looked at my tongue today and it is pink and healthy with no trace of pastiness or whiteness. My teeth are very white. Maybe it is my imagination, but my mouth looks better than it ever has.

The pet supply store in town was open so I stopped in and got two cat toys, both of which are resounding successes. A little crinkly ball which BW Cat swooped up immediately and dashed around with in his mouth, and a little catnip-stuffed hand that Slim Cat rubbed all over and then laid on. For myself I got some hard cider that I am enjoying with a small side of Scotch. I've got an eggplant being prepared to be turned into baba ganoush. Forgot to buy eggs! I have two left, but will have to remember to get some tomorrow as there is supposed to be a storm on Saturday night and I don't want to get caught without them.

I have such sad news to report. Scotch, even in very small amounts, gives me a headache. This is true and has been proven in a meticulously planned n=1 experiment. Must console myself with bacon.

Made this: Baba Ganoush - The Best In The World! Recipe - Food.com - 67570. Thank you, Greensprout. I had made this before and didn't feel I had given it my best shot so I wanted to try again. This time I sliced the eggplant and salted it for 15 minutes or so, then gave it a quick rinse and baked it at 400 for 20 minutes. Removed the peel, mashed, and proceeded with the recipe. I didn't measure anything, but that's not really necessary. Super delicious. I ate it just as suggested, with olives and parsley and olive oil drizzled on top. Scooped it up with sweet baby peppers. That and two strips of beef jerky (made a couple of days ago) were dinner. I am very, very happy. Also happy that my refrigerator now contains a generous serving of cashew chicken all ready to eat and the world's best baba ganoush. Life is good.

Found some cat food that is basically just ground liver with some supplements. Would you believe the cats ate it?
