My knee jerk CW reaction is it has to be bad for your eyes. Actually, I look at the sun too, but only for a minute or less at a time.
All the silly stuff aside, there's something primeval about watching the sun rise and sun set (wearing a pair of UV-protective shades if necessary, of course). I get a lot from doing so when the opportunity arises.
I watched the sun rise over a sand dune in the Sahara desert on my 40th birthday. That was pretty primal.

There is no clorophyll in my eyes, or anywhere else in my body except my digestive tract after I eat a salad.
If animals could avoid eating by staring at the sun, why do they all seem so interested in... eating? Like, every day?
Today I will: Eat food, not poison. Plan for success, not settle for failure. Live my real life, not a virtual one. Move and grow, not sit and die.

Yeah.... basking in the glow of a sunrise/sunset... even gazing into the dusky many hued orb... is UuMMmmm, lets see, I know there is a word for this.... MEDITATION, that's it! Sun light, good for the body... sitting quietly contemplating the beauty of it, good for the soul. Nothing more, nothing less.
The rest is complete bunk.

And that's why I'm here eating HFLC Primal/Paleo.
