    Pickle Juice...odd question

So I buy pickles with live cultures for my probiotics. And instead of buying more pickles when I run out, I save the jar full of pickle juice and take a swig of it with dinner. Do you think this provides sufficient probiotics?

much less than the pickles themselves, but there are still little bugs swimming around in the juice itself

you could start making your own fermented pickles like that too, just save the juice

i think so. you could leave it out for 24 hrs and the bacteria should multiply (to a point).

Yeah, you're definitely still getting some, but like bloodorchild said, probs not as much. I used to do the same thing, take swigs of my leftover pickle juice... but the juice always lasted much longer than my willfulness to do so, so I would inevitably just get more pickles and *eep!* toss the juice.

I use the juice in certain recipes and salad dressings. Yummy tangy goodness!

I bought a jar of really good pickles from whole paycheck without any vinegar. After eating the pickles I just refilled the jar with the cucumbers I bought in the store. Leave out of the fridge, let them ferment to desire state. Put back in the fridge to slow down fermentation. Saves $ and you can control how sour you want to make them.

How long do you leave them unrefrigerated? I shredded some cabbage and filled up one of my pickle jars but I didn't realize I needed to leave them out of the fridge to ferment.
