Judg....... I'm not a huge veggie lover - but these are the ones I mostly eat:

    broccoli
    cauliflower
    cucumber
    red onions
    red/yellow/green peppers
    radishes
    carrots
    fresh spinach (not cooked!)
squash - all kinds, no so much pumpkin
    sweet potato
green beans (not sure if that ones ok or not)
    lettuce and cabbage

I don't care for the more pungent or bitter "greens". If it tastes like dirt - no thank you.

Okay, lets see what you can do with that list?

Thursday - and Day 10 of my 21 Day Challenge. Still haven't cheated or veered off course. My calories have been perfect on 8 days, and only 200 calories over on 2 days. Macros are all right on target! I've missed getting to bed on time twice - once was last night! I've had NO grains, NO legumes, and no added sugar! A tiny bit of honey in my almond butter, and trace amounts of sugar in things like seasonings. Why do they have to put sugar in my seasonings? My meat doesn't need sugar! It needs salt and spices!

Today I've had bacon and almond butter. Trying to swallow down all my supplements right now. Takes a whole glass of water!

Slept pretty aweful last night. I went to bed at 10 pm. Then hubby got home at 10:30 - wanted to talk about moving step daughter #2 into new apartment - then wanted something to eat and wanted me to come talk with him while he ate. So, I was up until 11:45. I slept sort bad. Was awake at 6 am and now I'm wondering if I have time for a nap before going to dinner tonight with sister and BIL. Part of the problem is our sheets......... I'm such a deva when it comes to sheets and stuff! I need comfortable sheets --- they have to be soft, not stiff! I need to go buy a set of Jersey sheets for winter - I LOVE those! And it was too cold in our room last night. I like to have fresh air, but a warm cozy bed. But, if I got hot or sweatie --- I wake up. Wish I could just sleep like a log like hubby does! I think he could fall asleep on the Materhorn if he was tired enough!

Oh good grief ............... I've just spent almost on hour doing misc chores --- now its to late to go take a nap. Maybe I'll just make a run to Target and buy some jersey sheets so I can sleep tonight! I need to be a the boatshop in 2 hours anyway. We're eating out tonight in a nearby SMALL town --- at a place that is basically a glorified dinner. So, I'm hoping they will at least have a salad that I can eat with maybe shrimp or chicken. But the dressing will be just bad stuff cuz I know they don't have anything homemade. I hate not being in control of what I'm eating. Well, I guess I am in control, within the confines of the menu.

I also need to order some things online. I can't get that darned pond pH to go down with the little $36 jar of "beneficial bacteria"!!! I'd rather order it online than drive across town to get it - which, okay, I live in salem Oregon ---- across town is a 10 minute drive.......... but I hate the traffic! Besides...... the internet is a GIANT store with lots of variety and choices! Not like going to a store that A or B - take your pick. I need to get this water balanced before we go into winter - for the fishes sake! And because I don't like not being able to see them. Maybe I'll just order some sheets online while I"m at it!

Lets see - do I have any other random blabbering I could do while I bore to you tears?

guess not...........OH yes............ I decided to take the day off of work (since I had nothing pressing) and off walking! So, my son and I (he's also on vacation for a couple days) spent the afternoon running from used bookstore to used bookstore - looking for a used bookstore that would buy all his old books! We sold a few - he made $28. Then we went to the buy/sell video store - he sold a bunch of game system games and I sold a bunch of old movies! CHA-CHING! we both got a little extra cash in our pockets. I also bought a gallon of Sikkens Log House sealer for the pergola (now I have to actually put it on the wood) --- and he bought a bar for doing pull ups. (He's basically primal now )

okay........... now maybe I'm done boring you!

so - we ate out - and my numbers are still really good. I had prime rib, the smallest cut, and baked potato. The salad was just a pile of lettuce with a few croutons that I pushed to the side. A couple TBs of honey mustard dressing.

    It all worked out!

But, now I'm stressing about this weekend. Rum, double stuff oreo's, peanut m&m's........... hubby is REALLY killing me! I'm tempted to "forget" to buy diet coke. I am getting some DARK chocolate and cinnamon almonds for my snacking. Maybe I won't be tempted at all and everything will be fine.

I won't have internet once I leave home tomorrow so there will be no reports until Sunday night or Monday morning.

We didn't get home until 9:30 tonight - then packed some clothes and started making a list of what I need to buy at the store tomorrow, and what needs to be packed from the kitchen. By the time we got to bed it was just before 11 --- then I remembered I hadn't taken my sleep supplements! gRRRR........... so here I am at 12:41, waiting for them to kick in. I'm starting to get a little heavy eyed so I will be heading up in the next few minutes.

Night all.............. hope you had a great sleep --- and Friday is productive and full of good things! I think Sabine's honey is going to get a job today! (happy thoughts)

Lots of luck to you, Tomi, as you fight off the evil Double Stufs! I love Double Stufs! I just learned they have candy corn oreos this fall... If I don't buy them, I'll be fine. But if someone has them at their house and I see them... I make no guarantees as candy corn is my FAVORITE candy.

    Anyhow, have a nice trip!

Hi Tomi! I ate out once this weekend too, and decided not to get the house dressing when I found out it had canola oil in it. Asked them for simple EVOO and vinegar; that way I could be sure they wouldn't mess it up.

They make a really great steak, but their veggies are really uninspiring and downright cheap for the prices they charge, so we aren't going back.

By the way, the MDA recipe for Green Goddess dressing looks fantastic; you should try it.

That looks like a pretty good list of veggies to me; you've got a lot of the best in there. I'll see what I can come up with. Do you eat tomatoes? Oh, and Mark dithered about green beans for a while and then declared them primal. Apparently the bad things are negligible while the seeds are still green and small. So there you are. Good thing. I have some fresh ones from FIL's garden...

For squash, I like cooking garlic and an apple in butter until the apple has reduced to sauce (so peeled, of course) and then adding roasted orange squash, like acorn or pumpkin or whatever. The combination is to die for, and it's what got me started eating squash, which I had never been fond of before. If your squash isn't too difficult to cube raw, you can cook it in the pot with the garlic and use apple juice for the liquid, as a variation on the same theme. I know that's not a salad, but it's totally scrumptious, and is my favourite substitute for mashed potatoes now.

Thanks, Judg ----- I'm going to read through that post a little slower and take some notes.

Okay - our weekend was absolutely wonderful!!! Best 2 day vacation of my life! We hiked about 3 miles around Hope Island after a short kayak ride to the island from the boat. Then we kayaked around McMicken Island - its pretty small - maybe an acre, so the trip around it in the kayak took maybe an hour. This was first time kayaking so I was pretty excited about the whole thing! Here I am:

    005.jpg

Pretty cool huh? 52 years old and I'm just starting to hike and kayak! I didn't quit make it foodwise though. Yes, I had rum and diet coke ---- and I even ate a couple peanut m&m's and oreos! UGH! All in all I'm good with it though. I just won't be able to say I did the entire 21 day challenge without cheating. Its not like ate pizza or a hoagie sandwich or anything. It was just a few. Tomorrow is new day and I'll get back to being 100%.

We'll be going back up next weekend to bring the boat back home. Then she'll be put to bed for the winter. Bummer.
