Tomi, I don't mind tracking for a little bit, to get the feel of something. And maybe checking in occasionally. But not on a day-to-day basis. I'm a rule-oriented kind of person and if I let too many of them into my life, they end up strangling me.

We'll see how things go after I've settled into my fall routine. Then I'll tweak if and as necessary. In the meanwhile, I'm checking out Attia a little bit.

HOLY CRAP! This man eats 88% fats??!?! HOW?! Right now, with my current plan, I'm at 7% carbs, 61% fat, 32% protein. Of course, this would only be if I'd followed my plan... I didn't keep my hand out of the candy jar but haven't tracked it yet... starburst jelly beans. Damn them! (despite the candy indulgences, I'm still low enough in overall carbs to be ketogenic - ok, added my yucky foods. I am not at 18% carbs, 53% fat, and 28% protein).

But anyhow, seriously... 88% fat? HOW?

I know, right? I thought it was very extreme myself - thats why I didn't go quite so heavy on the fats. I couldn't find the reference when I was looking yesterday - but somewhere I came across his suggestion to start with 10% carbs, 20% proteins and 70% fats as a trial run to see how your body responded to it. I think mine likes it! But doesn't his info impress you? and I thought it was interesting that Mark has used his info on cholesterol for 2 of the blogs this week - so Mark must trust the guy.

Judg --- I love your style! So relaxed and stuff! I'm glad you're a part of my cyber world - cuz you help keep me grounded! I do tend to get wound up about things......... you know - those past months when I wasn't seeing any progress send me into a search mode like a hound dog! I MUST find a new approach! and then I find what I think is going to be a good one and I instantly respond with my "pointer" stance! THATS IT! .......... and then, I share with everyone. Thats me. But you are doing what is right for you and I totally respect and admire that. So many people offer up different paths - but you stay the course of what you have found to work for you. And with the amazing progress you have seen no can argue that what you're doing isn't working! You look amazing!

okay............ back down to 186 today! I can't wait to be able to change my sig line to a new low number! I think my body is liking this lower protein thing. I'm not hitting the percentages exactly - but apparently the approximate approach is working too! I do however have a bit of a diarrhea issue again. Just a little. Maybe my body needs to adjust to the higher fat. I'm thinking maybe I will just take some anti-diarrheal meds every morning. I'm tired of spending so much time in the bathroom! and fearing what leaving the house might mean...... In fact, I'm going to add one to my morning collection of supplements. See how that works for a while. If I get constipated I'll just take a couple magnesium to clear the pipes!

Not sure what is happening this weekend - we thought we would spend the weekend at the lake - once hubby gets done with his work at the boatshop --- then we found out BIL and family are coming down from washington and want to have a family gathering on Sunday after church. GRRRR. there goes our last weekend at the lake. Hubby is pulling the boat out on the 8th cuz he and his buddies are going on their annual guy trip up into the Pudget Sound on the 11th. Well, we might still go up Sunday after the gathering and spend the night. Monday is a day off for both of us!

My son told me yesterday he will be talking to the loan prossessor on Tuesday to start the paperwork for the pre-qualification. YEAH! and he said since he has so much time acrued for vacation he will be taking Fridays off for the next several months to use it up. That will give him Fridays to be working on his "stuff" --- like moving out! WOOOHOOO!

    OOOPs - I didn't mean to post already - I wasn't done.

I have been wondering if I'm getting enough iodine. I just checked my salt and it doesn't have iodine added. I need to do a little research to see if I am getting it in my normal diet or if I should supplement. I know there is an iodine thread going on but I sorta fear there is a lot of craziness surrounding it so I stay away....... but I am going to do some research. First I'll see what Mark thinks. I wonder if I can add that to my bloodwork when I get my thyroid checked next week?

Breakfast --- 2 eggs fried in butter with a sprinkle of Garam Masala! YUM! Hubby wants me to do a chicken stirfry thing for dinner tonight. That means there will be added sugars in the sauces. I need to make sure I account for those in my logs. I'm not going to do the typical veggie stir fry though. Since all those veggies add up to so many carbs I'm wondering about just putting the stirfried meat over a bed of lettuce or cabbage? Anyone have any ideas on that??? OH......... maybe I'll do lettuce wraps! I'll put the stirfried chicken along with slivers of cucumber, radish and maybe a little mango?

Lots on the adgenda for today! After I'm done with breakfast - and MDA I will go for my 1.5 mile walk (sorry Zeus, you have to stay home and howl in the yard while I'm gone!), and then its house cleaning day! and a little yard work too. The Petunia's are pretty much done for the season and they need to be pulled from the pots on the patio - I hate to see them go, but they don't look so pretty anymore. And hubby asked me to make a Balti Butter Chicken for the family gathering on Sunday.

Best get to it! have a wonderful day everyone!

Reading through PaleoBird's thread now. I won't get it done before I leave work but it'll be interesting to see where it goes and what I can learn. I fully plan to go into a ketogenic state in the near future, for probably about 15 days or so to see if there's any change in my weight. But I have to prepare first and right now, my fridge is not ready for me to go ketogenic... too much stuff there to derail me... Getting the veggies right will be tough, but if I stick to green veggies, I should be ok as the green ones are lower in carbs. I question my discipline right now though...

My CP is caused by brain damage either in utero or at birth. My entire life I was told it was a birthing issue as I was extremely blue at birth. However, several years ago I had a complete neurological exam, including MRI and the doctor feels my damage likely happened in utero.

Life was very stressful for my mother while she was pregnant with me. My oldest sister contracted encephalitis about 3 years before I was born. She never recovered and was in a vegetative-like state until she died less than 2 months before I was born.

While my "symptoms", deemed spastic, appear to be mild, MRI revealed moderately severe brain damage. In essence I have a nice size hole in the right hemisphere of my brain.

All of that is to say, changes in my diet have no impact on my CP. Dietary changes have, however, greatly improved my severe osteoarthitis pain and swelling.

wow......... I don't even know how to respond to that. It seems you have dealt with it well and haven't let it totally control your life. You must have got your strength from your mom -- it sounds like she had an aweful lot to deal with in her younger years!

Life is what it is, huh? We don't have control over the cards we're dealt. I believe God intended for us all to be perfect in every way - but, freewill got in the way of that. So instead - He can use anything for His good if we allow him to. We live in a fallen world - and part of that is physical imperfection. Birth defects, illness, aging........... all of it. I'm heaven bound and reaching for it everyday!

I'm happy to hear the dietary changes have improved your quality of life also.

good day so far..... I walked 1.5 miles this morning - but now my legs are a bit achy and tired. Maybe I pushed it too much on the speed side. Tomorrow I will take more of a stroll than a power walk! I had 2 eggs for breakfast, fried in butter - and 1 ounce of cinnamon coated almonds just a bit ago. I'm waiting for hubby to get home to start dinner. It will likely be a late dinner since its the friday before a holiday weekend - I'm sure there have been several last minute panics from people saying -- I just got my boat out for the weekend and it isn't running!!! Well, dumb ass - next time try taking it out a few weeks early so my husband can get home at a decent hour! Sorry......... I get testy when other peoples lack of common sense cuts into OUR holiday weekends! (I hope none of our customers are reading this!)

Anyway......... dinner will be some kind of stirfry with chicken and shrimp. I'm making rice for hubby but I'll have mine in lettuce wraps. (make that 2 oz of almonds...... I'm getting pretty hungry, since I haven't eaten in 10 hours.)

Throwing out the lactaid was certainly the right thing to do to get me stop eating my homemade icecream - or store bought for that matter. If its available I can't turn it down. But I can't eat it now! Good for me!

Not sure what this weekend is bringing yet.......... Sunday family gathering and curry feast. Hubby wants me to make butter chicken -- but I can't eat it cuz of the cream in it. I'm sure there will be other curries there I can eat. I'm babbling........ signing off.

    Tomi,
I hope you and hubby have a great holiday. My DH was off Thursday (I worked) and Friday (we ran errands together). He works this weekend. He does get Thanksgiving off this year, though........ We've gotten used to not having holidays off together. Christmas was the worst when the kids were little and I worked so many Thanksgivings (so I could have Christmas off) that the kids thought everyone had pizza for Thanksgiving Thursday and turkey on Friday afterwards.
