stitches out easy-peasy. doc said everything looks good. gave me a few more tiny little exercises to daily. at this point I'm only hunching my shoulders, squeezing my shoulder blades together and doing neck rolls. he added taking my arm out of the sling and with assistance to support my arm doing very easy flexion of the elbow to regain ROM and begin strengthening the tricep muscle. I have the option od the "pendulum" to avoid frozen shoulder so will work on that when I shower and the sling is off for a bit.

I don't think I slept much better last night so I forced myself to sleep in this morning. I was in bed 11 hours total with very broken sleep patterns. when I feel I can stop the Vicodin at night I will resume the melatonin. I just don't comfortable mixing them since they both have sedative effects.

I stepped on the scale yesterday with the sling on and I was up 2 pounds from pre-surgery weight. I expected as much. my body has been through a traumatic event and much inflammation is to be expected. plus the sling has some weight in itself.

here is a internet photo of my 1/2 straight jacket. I'm unable to fit behind the steering wheel with the pillow, so until I'm cleared from wearing the pillow I can't drive. Plus the PT says no driving until I have more flexion in my shoulder so I don't strain it reaching across to shift or put on my seat belt. So I told my boss I won't be back until the 7th.

Did some work from home yesterday. It went pretty good, but took me longer than expected. I'm starting to feel less down and drained. I guess the anesthesia hit me harder than it normally does. Then again - I've never been under for more than 30 minutes before this. This time was 2 1/2 hours.

I'm trying my best to stay on track with SCD. I have had grains in a couple different things since the surgery. I think that is the only terrible thing I've had. Oh - yes, and ice cream. I am 17 days no alcohol. I am happy to report this isn't simple due to lack of having it in the house - we have rum and vodka - I've simply chosen not to drink it. I've noticed a huge improvement in my tummy so I have great motivation to stay clear of it.

All in all............. I am mending. Now if I can find my way into the 170s sometime soon I will feel even better about my progress!

Glad you are feeling better. Make sure you have some rest time each day. Your body will heal faster. Push water, it will help flush out inflammation.

I'm getting plenty of resting time!! And getting 48-60 oz of liquid daily. mostly water, some kombucha.

Here's something to throw out for my medically trained MDA friends............... last night while I was doing one handed dish washing I apparently caused the IV insertion site (palm side) to bleed. Now - this is 8 days post surgery!! but I looked at my wrist and I had a growing hematoma on my wrist. I iced it and stopped the spread and I assume the platelets kicked in and stopped the bleed. But still today I have a small swollen area with a slight bruise. I know this is something that can happen - but after 8 days?? However - I was lifting heavy cookware one handed and perhaps the pressure on my wrist cause a small tear in the vein??

    Any opinions???

I do have rather weak veins -- she blew out 2 spots on my forearm before going for the wrist, and had to dig a bit to achieve her goal. I'm going to leave the heavy stuff for hubby to wash.

Probably pulled the "scab" away from where the vein was healing. I've managed to do the same thing - no bruise when removed and 3-5 days later I have a huge one.
