    @Tomi, I hear you on the fibro-boards. I have a friend with fibro, chronic fatigue and a lot of other problems, but when I tell her she goes 'yeah right' and rolls her eyes and goes on feeling awful, taking more and more meds every day and dragging herself through every day, from doctors appointment to doctors appointment....
    Thanks for the good wishes, Candy. I've started a journal here to keep myself accountable, and you can be sure I'll be shouting it from the rooftops if this does make a significant difference to me. If so, maybe you could direct your friend to it. Personal testimonies do tend to carry more weight than advice. If you had any idea how much well-intentioned advice sufferers of CFS get, most of it downright dangerous, you'd understand why we get so resistant to it. People have a very hard time understanding that it doesn't play by the same rules as normal fatigue. It took my family members years to start getting it and back off with me. Heck, it took me almost as long to understand it myself... And when hope has been disappointed so many times, you just don't want to put yourself through it again. I myself have been feeling so hopeful lately, I'm scared I'm setting myself up for another let-down. And I'm just hoping to recover a little more functionality.

    Any chance you'd be willing to hit FibroTV... I'm not sure what it is, but I know that's where my MIL gets a lot of her fibro suppot and treatment ideas. She was so sore and tired and not feeling well last night that she couldn't watch our kids after telling DH she would... I was in class and he wanted to work. He had to forego work because he had no one for the kids since she was feeling poorly. I wish she'd just trust that diet is the key so she'd feel better.

    Ok Girl! GREAT JOB on the weight loss and on making the choice to dig in! You won't regret it! For me - I saw a huge difference in my pain and energy level from about the 3rd day of being completely grain-free. But I do have my waves at times, and I really think they are related to eating refined sugar. I'm playing with the idea of cutting dark chocolate out because of the sugar in it --- and "natural ice cream" as well. Although I don't have ice cream very often I think the dairy and sugar are messing wtih my energy levels. For the most part I stay pretty strict on what I eat.

    Are you taking vitamin D3 ??? And a B Complex? You should also be taking Calcium. I take 4000-6000 units of D3 daily. And I find when I forget to take my supplements I feel it quickly!

    As for food -- no grains, legumes, beans or sugars. (is a bean a legume?) Be careful with nuts cuz they aren't all good for you. I think Mark has a post about nuts - you can do a search for that. I've read peanuts and cashews are strictly no-no's. Almonds are good, and I think brazile nuts are supposed to have some really good things in them - but beware of that high fat content. Stay away from the unhealthy processed oils. ONLY - Coconut oil, Olive oil and butter should be used for consumption. Take your canola and corn oil - and pour them out on the weeds you want to kill in the cracks of your sidewalk! Go easy on condiments like catsup cuz its loaded with high fructose corn syrup. And limit high sodium flavorings like soy sauce (besides, soy is very bad for us).

    Course - trying to get meat grown as naturally as possible is best - but not everyone has access to it - or can afford it. We buy a beef once a year that is all grass fed, but chicken and eggs come from the grocery store. Our fish is all fresh caught and free from the wonderful customers at our boat shop. Course, it gets frozen before we eat it.

    I try to stick to the old saying "don't eat anything white" --- with the exception of cauliflower - and the very very rare white potato. Which means - maybe twice in the past 6 months.

    I've been where you are energy-wise. You may not ever be where you'd like - but I promise eating clean and natural will greatly improve your energy levels. I don't have "crash" days anymore - now I just have "gosh I'm just dragging a bit today" days now. But they don't slow me down too much. I'm working again - 4 days a week in the afternoons. I'm able to keep up with the housework and all the yard work. And weekends my husband and I bike, hike and work on projects (like the pergola we are currently building in the back yard) My life has improved 1000 fold since I changed my diet.

    FibroTV??? never heard of it - but if you can get me any information I would be happy to explore that venue of getting the word out.

    So - I'm feeling a little less frustrated today. I'm putting away the spreadsheet where I track all my calories, carbs, fats and proteins. I need to take a break and just work on eating healthy, and continue to reduce calories so I will lose weight. I know my body is capable of shedding the weight cuz I did it last year on Medifast. I just gained it all back after I started eating regular food again. Losing it on regular food is the key - duh! I'm gonna stick to the 80 grams of each - with a total of about 1300 calories. I know at some point my body will start cooperating. I cut out the eggs and bacon about 3 weeks ago because of the high fat content - now I have a hard time getting in enough fat through out the day. Good thing I have almonds and dark chocolate - but I wonder what the sugar in the dark chocolate is doing for the fibromyalgia. I may be cutting that out next. But, what do I replace it with? maybe butter on my steamed veggies - that works! Everything is better with BUTTER!

    Summer is coming.......... at least the calendar says it is. Funny mother nature seems to be doing her own thing this year. Seems I remember last spring was pretty dang disappointing as well. Today is April 18 - and it is 50 degrees and wet-ish outside! I'm still using the pellet stove to heat this drafty old house and still having to wear a light jacket when I go out. Where is spring? The weekend was beautiful though! A teaser for whats to come I hope! I even got a bit of a sunburn from working on the pergola all weekend.

    This is the first year I've felt really good since getting sick 10 years ago. The fibromyalgia won't be holding me back this year - thanks to finding the primal lifestyle. I've got the eating and sleeping down - now I just need to work in the weights and keeping myself moving slowly the better part of the day. If the weather would improve I would be outside working on the yard every morning, then going to work in the afternoons. There's always lots to do outside. Course I could be doing the same thing inside - and my house might have a little less DUST if I would do it! But, cleaning house just doesn't give me the same satisfaction or fullfillment as doing gardening. I see all these people out walking, running and biking (we have a very active neighborhood) - but I just can't get out there when there is still a chill in the air and a drizzle of rain coming down. Yuck !!!!

    Last night I was going to make Salmon for dinner but hubby had to work late - so I made chicken instead. So, tonight is the Salmon and veggies. Yum! I could live on fish. I'm planning to fast until dinnertime today - or at least until I get home from work this afternoon. Is a little honey in my herbal tea okay on a fast? hum.........

    Yes, I do take supplements, but I'm only up to 1000 units of D3. I'm not planning on changing that right away because if I change too many things at once, I won't know which things are helping and which are not. So right now it's grains that are the big issue for me.

    Beans are indeed legumes. And just when I had spent years developing a taste for them too. Sheesh. I never liked them to begin with, learned to love them, and now have to learn to unlove them.

    A spreadsheet? Oh my. I could never handle strictly regimented diets or recipe planning. They just couldn't accommodate all the unplanned things that happen in life.

    And yes, losing weight is relatively easy. Almost any diet will do it if you stick to it. People do it all the time. The problem, of course, is returning to the "normal" eating that made us fat in the first place. Reprogramming our heads to accept a new normal is a key element in succeeding in keeping it off. I didn't even try for years, but just concentrated on improving my eating habits so that when the weight came off, it would stay off. So far, so good. The real test will come when I've reached my goal, mind you. It's a little early to crow about it now, but seeing as it's taken me so very long to lose it, I'm optimistic I will keep it off. And now, of course, I am reprogramming my head yet again to eliminate the grains altogether. I was already limiting my carb intake, but I thought it was something I would increase a bit on a "normal" diet. Guess not. Of course, fats are a wonderful consolation... LOL! I always did love me my butter and chicken skins and olive oil and I absolutely refused to cut them out, diet or no. I figured you had to have some indulgences to stay on track, and now I find out they were good all along. Now it's the black bean soup that will be the indulgence. Too funny.

    So Tomi, I thought bacon and eggs were supposed to be a very permissible part of a Primal diet. Why are you cutting them out? When I had some 10% fat Greek yogurt for breakfast the other day (with blackberries) I found it kept me feeling satisfied and unhungry much longer than the fat-free yogurt I normally ate. It was great. My energy levels stayed up, I felt full and content much longer, and therefore ate less during the day. Or am I missing something here?

    Try local grass fed farmers. Sometimes they'll sell you a whole beef, half a beef, or quarter beef.
