I believe the last year of med school is pretty heavy on the pharmacology stuff. Nurses don't have to know how to prescribe, so probably not a big priority there. Let me know what you find out - I'd like to know.

You could be right. It would make sense since they are the ones prescribing and they'd need to know what to prescribe. Makes sense. My brain has been off today.

My question is: how do they keep all the illnesses and symptoms straight in their heads without carrying around a textbook full of symptoms and illnesses? lol

Some med schools teach very little pharmacology. The doctors get their "education" from pharmaceutical company salesmen. And yes, the amount of grants for research and to medical schools by Big Pharma is huge. No, I don't have statistics, but I have read articles on it. Doctors and profs who call them out on it have their careers sabotaged. It's very depressing. Meanwhile, promising remedies are neglected because they can't be patented, and therefore the companies can't make money off them.

okay - day 3 on Whole30. Going GREAT!

Breakfast - 6 oz Ground Turkey patty, fried in olive oil.
Lunch - 1 ounce of almonds
Dinner (to come) - 3 egg veggie omlette (dang, can't do cheese!) with 3 oz of ground turkey (its a turkey day!)

Hubby just called and said he's gonna be a bit late tonight so go ahead and eat.......... that means I have to fix him dinner when he gets home later! Ugh - I hate cooking twice. Maybe I'll just wait and eat with him later. Summers at our house are filled with 8 pm dinners - sometimes even later.

I'll get everything chopped and ready to go so when he gets home I can throw it all together.

It sure is! I love not having the terrible knawing in my stomach and the lightheaded feeling that says "EAT or your going to die right now!!!" Its freedom!

Okay - so I'm on day 4 of Whole30 ---- and I'm down 3 pounds! I'm so excited!!!! I know, mostly water weight - but who cares - this is a new LOW for me since going primal. Last time I weight this (187) I was doing Medifast - meal replacement, soy based garbage psuedo-food! The weight came off nicely - but as soon as I started eating real food again I gained almost all of it back! All but 10 pounds to be exact. That won't happen this time! I guess the key for me is to go VLC. I've been eating real close to 50 grams a day - yesterday was 29 grams. I must be in ketosis - and burning the fat! I would like to stay here until I reach my goal.

I've made some good choices since starting whole30 - no chips and beans, no tortillas or rice, and no long island iced tea while at the mexican place. Last night hubby wanted to eat junk so I reminded him that we had some Nestles milk chocolate chips in the freezer - he ate those - I didn't even want any! I munched on almonds. I'm pretty happy with my choices! I'm on a roll!!

Dr visit in a few minutes.............. time to find out about the saliva test. Gotta run...........

You go girl! So VLC is working for you, is it? Amazing how different people get different results. VLC makes Lex spitting mad. And I seem to do better if I consciously include some carbs. Although I'm so out of the habit, it's become difficult.
