    Tomi, thanks for the encouragement! I have 3 days that have been fairly back on track. When we moved, everything was in storage for a month, so I had 1 skillet and paper plates. Not a lot of cooking options. Now that we are in a permanent place, I have all my kitchen stuff again and am back to shopping and looking for recipes since I actually love to cook! The eating has been awful since November when we sold our house and then moved in with family until the actual move. It was just easier to do fast food. I'm actually surprised I'm not feeling worse!

    The workouts and movement have been decent. Lots of walks with our dog the past few weeks, not to mention the two of us moved all the stuff ourselves. My husband and I are both kettlebell instructors and ki-hara resistance stretching practitioners, so we have contined with that as well. Through everything, I have learned that my body does better with pretty intense training. When I was first diagnosed and met my husband, he was doing Muay Thai and Kung Fu. I decided I wanted to try and started with the Kung Fu since it was easier on the body. After a few months I decided to try Thai. My body took a long time to adjust to the sheer physicality of hitting, kicking, kneeing, and elbowing. I told myself that I was in pain if I did it or didn't do it, so I might as well do something.

    Anyway, don't want to bore you with all that stuff. Thanks for the encouragement and I will be checking in on you! Hope you enjoyed your date with the leaf blower!

    @jenn26point2 I hope your mother-in-law figures out there is so much more to life than being held prisoner by her own body. People do need to come to the realizations on their own. I've been preaching to my diabetic father for years and he still won't make an effort to change. He needs to do it for himself, I can't make him. Just like you can't make her. Hopefully you'll be able to lead by example! If I can help out in any way, please let me know. I know how hard it is.

    Frustration is my emotion of the day. I'm not finding the success I was hoping for with eating 80 grams of each - or trying to stick somewhere near those numbers. I might ditch it for a more relaxed approach. Primal/paleo - and in moderation. The dark chocolate is my guilty pleasure, maybe I'll take a break from that too. I'm toying with the idea of putting away my food journal for a while cuz I think its making me think of food too much. If I only eat when I'm good and hungry I think I might have more success with weight loss. I've been reading a lot of what Mark has to say about IFing. I like his theory on eating when you're body tells you it needs food. WHEN he calls it. When Hunger Ensues Naturally. Makes perfect sense. The key I suppose it to eat just enough to stop feeling hungry, instead of eating to the point of being FULL.

    Dinner tonight is salmon! not sure if I'll make steamed veggies to go with it - or make a sweet potato.

    So, we got the concrete all poured around the posts of the pergola, filled in the flowerbeds with dirt, and replaced all the rock. I moved 24 60 pound bags of concrete! lifted them onto the hand truck, pushed them 50 yards, then lifted them off the hand truck. Thats a lot of heavy lifting! I was hurting and tired on Monday! But the pergola is looking pretty dang good! for a couple of amateurs I think we're doing okay.

    I haven't been walking for about 3 weeks cuz I started riding my bike when the weather is good enough. Its mid-April and we are still seeing highs in the 40's ----- whats up with that? The weekend was gorgeous - I think it got up to 68 or 70 on Saturday! I even got a little sunburned and I certainly got enough exercise on the weekend! But I'm feeling a bit guilty for not having a daily routine of walking or biking. I know when the weather gets better that will change. I HATE being cold! I think the weather is effecting my mood too - I need to see the blue ski and feel the sun on my face for more than a day. Its just a grumpy day for me I guess.

    Hi Tomi, I just discovered your journal . I've had FM since about 8 years (never got really diagnosed, but my rheumatologist 'suspected' it, she just didn't like "to put a label on people" ) and have been on several types of meds over the years (redomex, cymbalta, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasm, you name it) . Until a few months ago I was on 1800 mg/day gabapentin as pain med (and still always in pain, every minute of every day)....I am now med-free since 1 week!!! I can hardly believe it's true

    Tomi, I hear ya about needing the sun! I am in need too. We had some cloudy days recently and some definitely colder days than what we had become accustomed to. I think that's finally starting to turn around here, though. I hope it does for you too.

    Don't feel bad about not having an exercise routine. There are people here who don't exercise a bit. There are people who are sporatic at best... then there are people who use it as an excuse to leave work (like me). Do it when you feel like it, when you can and when it feels good. Those are Mark's rules.

    Biking occasionally is perfectly fine. I wish I had a bike. That would be way more fun than the stationary thing at the gym...

    Candy I am so excited for you! Isn't it amazing to NOT feel pain? I still have a fair amount of fatigue, but the more active I get the less I have. Two years ago I was applying for disability because the fatigue had gotten so bad I couldn't even work part time. I got denied, as I expected I would. But I'm glad, because it made me keep searching for answers. I'm now finding that even at 51 I can still have an active, enjoyable life! I tried a few meds over the years, but nothing really helped me either. Nothing until I found primal/paleo eating. I felt drastically better in only 3 days of being off all the "wrong" foods. I sure I wish I could convince my sister to do this. She's 63, has fibro, type 2 diabetes and weighs about 400 pounds. She says she can't do this cuz its the wrong diet for a diabetic. I want to say thats BS, but it wouldn't help. So, I keep my mouth shut.

    I'm trying to spread the word. I need to get involved with some of the fibromyalgia "support groups" online. But honestly, all those women do is belly ache about how awful they feel! I tried to get involved in several different sites, but I got so depressed reading all that "woe is me" crap! Yes, its aweful, but dwelling on it doesn't help either. I'm still going to go on and put in my 2 cents worth, maybe someone will find the information helpful and decided to try it.

    Tomi, it is such an encouragement to me to read that this is helping with your fatigue. I suffer from chronic fatigue, to the point that I have been out of the workforce for years, and I desperately want to get better.

    Judg -- then you have enormous incentive to stay as pure primal as you can! Have you started? I would love to help you if you need anything. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel once you get all the toxins out of your body. I can feel it when I eat wheat - last week I ate a peice of naan (indian bread) and within 2 hours my legs were throbbing! If I stay clean - I don't hurt and I have so much energy!!! You can do this! Its the easiest thing I have even done and the best thing I could ever do for my body and my future!

    I officially started as of today. I was down visiting in the States for 10 days and during that time I cut back hard on grains (just a wee bit of bread and cereal). It did seem to keep my energy levels more constant. Mind you, I've been cutting back on carbs for a couple of years as a part of my weight loss strategy. It just never occurred to me that grains could possibly be unhealthy until I read that whole grains and dairy inhibited iron absorption. (I had just been diagnosed with catastrophically low iron levels.) Whole grains and dairy were very important parts of my eating habits. It kind of shook my world.

    How long did it take you to start feeling better? I don't know how much incentive I would have to maintain a primal lifestyle, eating-wise at least, if it didn't help with the fatigue. I've been losing weight very successfully on my own, but I was really hoping it would help lift the fatigue more than it has. Even with improving iron levels and losing 60 pounds, I am still too tired to get my act together. I can't hold myself to a task for very long, keep my thoughts together, or my motivation up. All my determination has gone into losing weight and I don't have any left for anything else. At least the new wardrobe has been a nice perk. LOL!

    Having energy sounds so wonderful... As it stands, if I go out grocery shopping one day, I have to stay home and rest the next day. What most people cram into the cracks of their day takes all my energy for two days. So for me, at this point, it's all about energy.

    I used to be tired ALL the time too, and now my DH almost doesn't recognize me . I hope you will feel the difference soon too, Judg!
    @Tomi, I hear you on the fibro-boards. I have a friend with fibro, chronic fatigue and a lot of other problems, but when I tell her she goes 'yeah right' and rolls her eyes and goes on feeling awful, taking more and more meds every day and dragging herself through every day, from doctors appointment to doctors appointment....
