    Planting flowers is always fun. I bought a bunch yesterday, but the rain is going to have to let up before I plant them. I can handle rainy, I can handle cold, the two at once are more than I am willing to do.

    As far as physical activity is concerned, I find it is best to push my limits gently. Whenever I get overly ambitious, I knock myself back for days or even weeks. I'm glad to see you haven't wiped yourself out too badly.

    Feeling good today - I think I'm back to my high side! YEAH!!! Judg - the key is absolutely to know your limits, right? We have to know when its time to slow down, or just completely stop and let the body recover. Thanks to this way of eating, my limits are miles higher than they were just 8 months ago! I want to start doing Mark's basic movements -- but I'm doubting I will ever be able to do pull up!

    Just mowed the lawn - I love a freshly mowed lawn! And with my new found energy and strength this year I've put a lot of work into, and its looking pretty dang good! My husband keeps thanking me for making the yard look so great!

    As per Marcadav:
    Do 30-60 days clean primal.
    No grains, sugar, alcohol.
    Eat 3 meals and primal snacks.
    Don't track food.
    Don't tweak.
    Don't expect issues to go away quickly. Instead, just follow the plan and see how things play out.
    Decide on an exercise plan you can/will do consistently during the 30-60 days and then do it.

    Mine is reviving too this year, after a couple of years of neglect. Still have some catching up to do, but it's a big improvement.

    Another great day! We played hooky from church today and just took it easy........ this afternoon we went to Lowes and bought some ceramic pots and flowers to go on the back patio - under the almost finished pergola! We got the timbers and now we just need the top center peice that will hold it all together.

    Food-wise:
    Breakfast: eggs and bacon
    Dinner: Kokanee that my hubby is frying up right now - with salad and cauliflower mash.

    Had a bit of Rum/diet coke this weekend. But I think I'm losing weight anyway. I think I will step on the scales in the morning and see whats happening there.

    Dang it!!!!! still no weight loss. Okay.............. going to read up on the whole30. If it sounds do-able I'm going to start today! But right now, I have to go get showered and check it at work - manager is going today so I need to take a peak at the mail and see if there is any charting to do.

    Not feeling real great today. Last night I started feeling the ickies in my throat and this morning I feel like I have a hang-over! UGH.

    Didn't do too bad over the weekend - but I mixed up a batch of snickerdoodles -- and munched on the dough a bit. I never bake more than 6 cookies at a time so there isn't a plateful for the family to devour. But I kept finding my fingers in the dough!!!! ggrrrrr! Add that to the rum/diet coke and its no wonder I didn't lose any weight.

    Wondering when DS is going to start looking for a place and start packing up his things. He's no trouble being here - but he is 26 years old and it is just time for him to be moving out. He needs to be closer to his job and he needs to start his life!!! The social anxiety issues are not nearly what they used to be, and I know he'll be fine now being out on his own. But I'm getting impatient about it all. He said as soon as work picks up and he's back to a full 40 hours a week that he will make the move. Hope that happens soon. Its time for Hubby and I to have an empty nest!

    I would have no problem planting flowers for my mom, no matter how much she drove me crazy simply b/c I enjoy planting flowers. lol I'm glad your most recent meeting with her went well.

    Holy Cow! the skies are dumping the rain!!!! I haven't seen it rain this hard in a long time! Hopefully I will see my squash seeds spouting soon!

    Yes, Judg --- whole30 is 100% clean paleo for 30 days. I need something to get me out of the "way too often bad choices" mode that I seem to be stuck in!!! So I decided to go for it. Jenn was my inspiration! There is a whole30 for June thread going that I will probably spend some time lurking through. Whole30 rules are no weighing, measuring or counting. And no stepping on the scales for the entire 30 days. Its going to be a struggle - as those are my little addictions. So, no more reports on what I'm eating until July 3rd. Hopefully by that time I will see an improvement in my energy, and a reduction in my weight. I still struggle with the "eat lots of fats" concept. Too many years of CW poisoning by brain I guess. When I track what I'm eating it almost always comes up with right around 50% fat for total calories. I don't seem to have much a problem keeping protein high and carbs low. I'm hoping keeping the sugars and occasional wheats out of my diet will get me off this plateau and back into a weight loss mode. I'm still hanging at 50 pounds overweight. UGH

    My son and I watched Fat Head by Tom Naughton on Friday - REALLY good! I'm not sure where I came across the link, but I've added it to my Netflix que cuz I'm going to make the hubby watch it. The bad part is that he eats fast food throughout the entire experiment - but the good parts are about cutting grains and eating real whole food. I know - seems to be a contradiction in terms there - real and fast aren't even close to the same thing! What he's trying to do is refute the film "Super Size Me" - and say that with good choices you can eat fairly good, and even lose weight on only fast food menus. If you get a chance to see it I highly recommend it!

    Okay - was feeling punky this morning, but am feeling a bit better this afternoon. I worked for a couple hours at the doc office. Then came home to fix something to eat after a 22 hour fast. Roast beef - yum. I was planning on making chicken breast for dinner that has been marinading in Yoshida's marinade - until I read the ingredients of the marinade -- soy sauce (with wheat), sugar, HFCS - among other not so good stuff. I won't be eating this. I will be cooking it, and son and hubby can eat it. I will be taking out a cod fillet. I've got some brocolli and carrots ready to steam, along with a sweet potato. I'll be putting ghee on them instead of butter, and cooking the cod in ghee as well.

    So --- I've been making cauliflower mash more often, and loving it!!! I put in a little butter, some heavy cream and garlic salt. I can sub. ghee for the butter, but what is a good sub. for heavy cream? Whole30 is NO dairy - period. Any suggestions? Maybe just forego the mash for the month, huh?

    Why do you have to substitute anything? I made mashed cauliflower the other day with just olive oil and salt.

    And why won't you be reporting on what you eat? That's not measuring or counting... But if you'd rather not, that's okay. I'm just a little confused, that's all.
