Have you tried logging calories to see if you're eating enough?

well this is what i dont understand because 1 im getting more belly fat so if i up my calories that will get worse, 2 people are saying you dont need to eat that many calories because the body takes it from your fat stores so you have an 'endless boundless energy'
    eating about 1600 - 2000 cals a day
too much conflicting information on this diet, maybe the nhs website is right and saturated fat is bad for me and i do need to eat more grains?? Eat less saturated fat - Live Well - NHS Choices

no, i don't lie about how good i feel when i stay off wheat. i take vitamins, fish oil & d3. i still have varying levels of depression and anxiety but they're much better than they used to be

when i get stressed to the point i want to napalm people, i go someplace where i can breathe. either for a drive, outside or to bed. i try to keep finding things to laugh at when i'm in depressed mode, that helps. also, acting like a jackass around here is good for me too

the dark eye circles sound like malnourishment, the bloating stomach sounds like cortisol from the stress. i poked around some of your started threads to see if you listed what you ate and it looked kind of low cal if i remember correctly, are you getting enough nutrients from your food? also are you keeping track of everything you eat to figure out what's causing the upset stomach?
    beautiful
    yeah you are

I mean there's so many ants in my eyes! And there are so many TVs, microwaves, radios... I think, I can't, I'm not 100% sure what we have here in stock.. I don't know because I can't see anything! Our prices, I hope, aren't too low!

It sounds like depression to me. People don't wake up wanting to kill everyone and then themselves unless something is very wrong. Depression causes extreme exhaustion as well. It may also be thyroid related. A faulty thyroid will leave you beyond exhausted, depressed and the inability to lose weight no matter what you do. In fact gaining weight is the norm. Whatever it is, it is NOT the carbs or the fat etc. Get checked out. I think you are in some way ill.

    Hi hungtingBears;

I'm really sorry to hear you've been having such a rough time. It must be especially frustrating to do something to feel better and end up feeling worse.

When I quit drinking and really cleaned up my diet I had distinct detox and felt very crappy for some months quite honestly. I had a coated tongue, circles under eyes, feeling of strong fatigue, intermittent depression, bloating, severe cravings for carbs due to cutting out alcohol (I ate lots of dried figs for awhile as a "step down" strategy).

You said you quit drinking "awhile" ago which is so vague as to imply not very long. What is the quality of food you are eating? Are you frequently getting "primal" take out and / or buying limp veg and cheap mince from the corner store or seeking out good produce from local sources? Are you preparing simple but good quality meals in bulk and taking them with you or just grabbing something out or with friends? Are you sleeping or staying up / out late many nights? How are you coping with stress of school, money, etc.? What kind of exercise routine have you put in place?

Please understand I don't mean this in a negative way-- just factor in everything instead of just thinking of types of food in--that's too reductionist a view. If this is incorrect, sorry, but it is something to put in the equation.

It isn't just the food. Really. It is a paradigm shift about what you put in your body and how you relate to the world. I tried this last year and wasn't ready to change my lifestyle so I failed and so I tried to blame the diet. I started over again six months ago and now I am seeing success but I started out pretty sick due to my own choices in the past and it took some time and going through some tough healing. I had a lot of anger come up both at myself and the world. I did get some counseling briefly and found that of great help. Perhaps this would help you process some things--I have this idea that as the physical toxin was coming out, the mental stuff was coming out right along with it. I feel much lighter having released a lot of both.

I hope primal living works out for you and you choose to really focus on the details even more, but you may need to step back for at least some time and think about your next step. We are here to enjoy life and not suffer. Sometimes modern living makes that simple truth hard to live. I spent much of my life working too hard, caring for others at the expense of myself, and feeling physically awful. I no longer do this. I meet my own needs, work less and play more, and feel pretty damn good. You will get there in your own time and we will be here to cheer you on.

Did the thoughts of suicide and killing others only start when you went primal? Is anything else going on in your life, like job loss or end of a relationship?

Go back to a grain diet if you think it'll help, but I really think your main objective should be talking to your doctor about everything you've been experiencing.

On a side note, getting rid of grains in my diet has tremendously improved my mood. It was only when I was downing artificial and sugary processed foods by the lb that I felt depressed.

Just read the parts where you may be too restrictive with your diet. That's a good way to get super cranky. If there's one thing that Mark Sisson emphasized in his first book, it's that eating primally shouldn't be an obsession.

And this is why people say to ignore what's said on the forums when you first start, and just go by what's in the book.

I agree that you need to be checked out... This whole way of eating has been amazing for me, although I don't seem to be losing alot of weight which is why I started it.. I agree with another post, I still have some mood and "anxieties" but they are much more tolerable and manageable.. I don't have any "health" issues and am on no medications, but it definitely sounds like there is something going on with you.. you don't state age, weight or anything so I am also wondering is it a possibility you are pregnant??? (if you are female of course lol)...
