Got a for-friends e-mail from Alex the other day. The hundred-bucks-a-month myopia program version, is free again. PM me for the codes, I've got five of them.
Cheers.
Hi. I am trying to find some dietary/naturopathic remedies too and have drawn a blank. No I have not experimented with alpha liphoic acid - I will investigate that. I'm aware that caffeine can raise intraocular pressure and that alcohol can lower it. I expect that eating an anti-inflammatory diet is beneficial.
You are very young to have high intraocular pressure. It could be down to a spontaneous genetic mutation rather than diet. I'm white caucasian too, however in my family there's a dominant inheritance for glaucoma from my maternal grandfather and some of his siblings. My maternal grandfather also has another autoimmune disease.
I had an assessment with the NHS a couple of days ago and was advised that because my eyes are large and I have a thicker than average cornea I am unlikely to exerience loss of peripheral vision until the pressure in my eyes reaches about 30. My eyes are currently at 21 and 22, which was down on 22 and 23 measured about 7 months ago. I'm 41.
Am so relieved as my eyes are hypersensitive so I would hate to have to take eye drops twice a day.
I appreciate what loss of vision would mean for you. I am an art lover and very visual person so, the possibility of losing any sight is very depressing for me.

BACON. For whatever strange reason, my eyesight gets better (late in the day after a lot of computer time) if I eat bacon. It's probably some kind of placebo effect (because I love bacon, heh), but I really get an extra 2 or so centimeters of distance from my screen before things get blurred.
Just saying, in case you need a bacon excuse.
I also got orange aviators for work. A little verbatim of this: Myopia Rehab: An Opportunity to Experiment with Style | The Myopia Challenge but it's quite amusing, and I tell my co-workers that my doctor told me so.

Oops. Just logged in, been a while, had a bunch of PM's for free codes. I'm all out of them, sorry!
Still a huge advocate of Alex work. By now, my astigmatism is down to ZERO (started with -1.25/-1.50). Also down two diopters. And those guys have been doing quite a lot of work to improve the whole Website, props to them for all they're contributing. Just like Paleo, this is a real service that needs to be supported, IMHO. One guy not trying to sell us glasses, not making us dependent on another 'prescription'. Just better eyes!

I am able to reverse my Myopia. About 4 years ago I was becoming Nearsighted and noticed my vision fluctuated day to day to the point where I finally had to get glasses. My vision was about 20/50. About 2 years ago I went on a raw food diet / detox to reverse some medical issues I was having (High Cholesterol, Pre Diabetes, ect), what I did not expect to happen was for my vision to improve. Not knowing at the time what the cause affect was due to I assumed it was blood sugar related. I soon discovered that it was not that simple and started a food journal in an effort to figure it out. Btw each time I become Myopic it takes about a week for me to regain most of my vision back, which made the process harder and take much longer than I liked. I finally figured it out one night when I had dinner at my favorite Sushi Restaurant. I had a Sushi Salad with raw Japanese vegetables and raw fish. This meal was perfectly safe, so I thought. The next morning I woke up to being nearsighted again!!! I examined the entire meal with the help of my Sushi chef and walla! To my surprise Soy sauce is made with Wheat. With further experimentation I confirmed the cause and affect to be related to Wheat. Every time I eat the slights bit of modern Wheat I become nearsighted. I have since discovered that I can eat ancient grains like Spelt, and other Gluten containing grains, but every time I consume wheat I become nearsighted over night.
Btw I am currently experimenting with what foods/ supplements correct the nearsightedness. There are times that my vision returns almost over night and I have not been able to pinpoint what the difference is. There seems to be a correlation with magnesium but not sure yet.
I would love to hear from anyone else that experiences this or is able to confirm my experiences.
Well, I am really excited to find this thread!
Back to the topic though, I read on forums elsewhere that Primal helped actually reduce some peoples' myopia. Others said there was no effect. For those who improved, I would NOT attribute this to some corrected vitamin deficiency, unless possibly if they were somehow lacking in Vitamin D which the Myopia Manual showed to have the greatest impact. I think you'd agree it had more to do with reduced grain consumption. The question remains, why? Well, I think it's an inflammatory response, in the case of wheat probably due to the gluten, the one thing that was increased drastically during the 20th century.
Scott I think you are right on the money based on my experience. I have a high level of inflammation that I am struggling to control. I can’t say that my Myopia and Inflammation are linked however I can say that consumption of Wheat and my Myopia are linked. I posted a long cause / affect explanation on page 16 regarding this. Anyway I have been researching ways to reduce inflammation to see if that speeds up my recovery when my nearsightedness returns.
Agreed. Beyond paleo, I also do better when I get some organic carrots, make some juice (once a week or so). Sugar yes, but my vision tends to be better (if I don't do it for a month or two, I notice the effects). Best to do with fish oil in the same meal, says Alex.
I remember there being some forum threads over at Alex' - myopia forum
