    Going primal for africans

Hello. I'm startinng my Primal challenge today and have a few questions so I get this right.

Does the African variety of Beans "Haricot" qualify for this diet? It' s a staple here but I'm unsure about it's effect on this diet or indeed the carb content.

In addition What says the forum on Palm Oil?

Most of the stuff on your lists are not readily available here (i live in Nigeria) by the way and would be stumped before I started if I do not try some adaptations.

    Please help.

I think haricots are green beans, which are fine. They are actually included in at least one of the recipes in "The Primal Blueprint Cookbook". They are legumes, which are typically avoided, but they are more pod than seed.

Virgin red palm oil is excellent. It has many health benefits.

Don't worry too much about finding foods on any list here. Just stick with whole, unprocessed, fresh foods and avoid too much sugar and processed industrial seed oils.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Dudu, I have fond memories of Nigeria. As I remember, Nigeria should be a primal lover's paradise. So much fresh veggies, meat, etc. Like Yodiewan said, stay away from the processed stuff, sugars, etc and you should be fine. I spent many years in Nigeria working around the Warri and Port Harcourt areas, great times. Good luck!

Don't worry about all the special oils and products. You can order them online if you want, but you don't need to. Paleolithic peoples didn't have these things. Just eat fresh meat and vegetables like they did, and you'll do great!
