Oh, I've been asked to do a guest post (an interview) on the blog of a young nutritionist/marathonrunner here in Belgium! We'll be doing the interview (about paleo and how it cured my fibro) on Monday evening, she'll be staying for a paleo dinner .
AND my osteopath called today. I went there a few weeks ago when my wrist was blocked. I had told him I thought it might be caused by dairy and we talked about how I had gooten off fibro meds and felt fantastic by changing my diet (and lifestyle). He called this morning because he had a patient sitting with him with fibro, willing to change diet if that would help with the pain. I referred him to the books I read, and told him he could give my phone nr tot this person. i'd be happy to explain what I'm doing to keep the pain away .

Candy! good for you for spreading the word that this WOE can cure the fibro issues! I've been trying to convince my sis who also fibro to give it a try - but she just isn't interested. We don't even talk about fibro issues anymore because they aren't an issue for me so I have nothing to commisurate about with her - and thats all she wants to do. She used to say, "Oh I wish they would find a cure for this thing!" HELLO!!!! I HAVE YOUR CURE! but - she loves her food........ and has let her weight balloon to around 400 lbs. So - giving up the carbs and all the artificial sweeteners????? She refuses! She's currently losing weight using the old CICO and not caring where those calories come from! URG! Why won't people listen! I've even tried to get my endo/boss to spread the word to his fibro patients........ he looks at me like a deer in the headlights. Dumb people.

Candy, you're so funny. The only organ meats we see in supermarkets on this continent is a bit of liver. Often only beef.

Sometimes there are mixed packages of chicken hearts and gizzards, sometimes beef heart and on the rare occasion beef kidneys

I guess it depends where you shop. I've gotten liver, sweet breads, and heart. Also seen, but have not yet attempted tongue, brain, stomachs. This is at the market that targets the Hispanic shopper. I have heard that the Asian market is just as exciting in terms of meat cuts. Funny, I would have thought that Canada would be more cosmopolitan than Texas.

My hispanic BIL keeps asking when we are going to attempt a beef HEAD in our deep pit ................. uh........ not in this lifetime, buddy! I don't cook anything that is looking back at me!

I noticed a beef heart and tongue at Fred Meyers the other day. Just can't make myself reach for it.

@Tomi, I know, it's often very frustrating. I know someone with CVS, fibro and lots of bowel problems as well. Crying about her 'shitty life' so often (her words, not mine). But give up bread and having the chance to really get better, are you kidding me? No, they just wait for some pill to come around instead of taking back their lives themselves! I feel so empowered, because I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF! No doctor was able to help me, they just said I'd have to live with it. Well guess what, I didn't wait for a pill to cure me, I changed what I could change to help my body heal!

There's a lot of organ meat available here in Belgium, either at supermarkets or butchers: liver (veal, pork, liver), heart, kidneys, chicken hearts, livers and gizzards, tongue. A delicacy that is available in stores again since not so long is pork or veal cheeks. I love them, always make them in the slowcooker.

Today I ate grains, for the first time kn more than a year...and no, it wasn't worth it . I made a delicious tomato-sauce with chorizo-sausages (recipe on my blog), decided to treat the kids with pasta. I found a glutenfree pasta made with buckweat (yes, I know it's a grain) and sweet potato. I decided to eat that with the sauce, a bit for convenience (we were short on time) and a bit because I wanted to see the effects it would have on my body. Thought this was the right time, as I'll be starting a whole30 on Monday. My stomach is not amused. I'm feeling bloated since dinner. I won't be eating that pasta again any time soon. The kids liked it though, so I might buy it for them, as at least it's glutenfree (as an occasional treat).

Today we went to DS2's new school by bike, it took us 40 minutes (one way). He'll be doing this every schoolday for the next 6 years (if all goes well). I'm happy he'll be going with 2 other boys from his old school. He's going to 7th grade now. And this afternoon we went to DS3's class (5th grade, small school behind our corner), he got his schoolbooks already. Monday school is starting again, the kids don't seem ti mind . Me neither, I've arranged to meet my friend for coffee! It's back to normal for everyone.
