I think smell should not be a problem. Maybe I could put some drops of essential oil in the last rinsing water for that? But I'm normally not put off by the way our body smells in natural (but clean) circumstances . I make my own soap and use that mostly to wash my hands, the rest of my body only gets soap on it once every few weeks, when I take a quality-time-bath with DH .

Oh well, it will be a nice experiment, I'll keep you updated here .

I am interested in seeing how it goes. Did you check out the link I posted? She uses apple cider vinegar as a "conditioner" to counter the basic nature of the baking soda. I found that to be interesting and worried about the smell of vinegar in my hair, but she says it rinses clean and leaves no smell behind. It's definitely something worth experimenting with.

Wow! Sharing smells across the world. That would be so utterly cool. Wonder what our favorite smells are? I like the smell of dried California grass after a rain for one -- and bacon and evergreens and coffee!

Candy that is some beautiful soap!!! I can never get pretty swirls like that!!! I do mostly HP cause I don't like to wait for it to cure. I probably will be making Oatmeal Goatsmilk & Honey soap & I make honey some soap with Obsession frag. oil since that's his favorite men's cologne. He also really likes the OGH soap. Who knows what else I may make...whatever strikes me at the time. I have tons of fragrances & eo's, makes it hard to choose! Oh another of my favorites is Peppermint/Tea Tree...it was one of my best sellers when I sold soap.

Now I am in the soapmaking mood!!! LOL

Did you know you can use your soap to wash your hair? It takes a few times for the hair to get used to it, but I used to have some soaper friends that did that. We also made some shampoo bars for hair washing. I just never really liked the feel...but then maybe I didn't give it enough time. Going "poo-less" doesn't really interest me. My hair has always been very fine & very oily. Don't care for the vinegar smell...& I have to wash my hair in the shower...my sink is not big enough, so I don't think it would work to good.

    have a great day!!!

My favourite smell is clean cotton T-shirt with clean man in it... Fortunately, I have a husband who likes both cotton T-shirts and being clean.

Bacon and evergreens and coffee are all good too. Can't speak to California grass, but rain-washed air is always nice, especially in the spring. I do love the smell of the soil waking up in the spring.

    ^YES

Making soap like that sounds awesome, though and I'll have to try it sometime soon.

Smell sharing would be awesome! It would make ordering Perfume Oils so much easier .

I had a bath this evening, because I got home really dirty from CrossFit! So I just 'washed' my hair under water and rinsed it off. Hmmm, it's way past my bedtime again. DH is abroad until Thursday and I always go to sleep much too late when he's not here . Also my son Lex is away the whole week, so it's just me with my 2 other boys (the youngest and the oldest). OK, off to bed I go now!

All this talk of soap making gets me very intrigued. I think I must do some reading up (WHEN?!) and try it out! I use a lot of EO's so have that side ready to go. That soap looks beautiful Candy! I don't think I could go pooless! My hair is down to my butt and gets really oily - always had that since I was a kid. Maybe I'll try it out for a short while ... nothing ventured nothing gained!

Some of my favourite smells - sweet horse smell, dusty road with rain drops just starting to fall, fresh cut grass, snow on the way smell, lavender freshly crushed, my hubby's skin - so distinct, the African veld right after a thunderstorm!!! Now I am homesick! Jasmine flowers in spring - aaah ecstatic, sweetpeas, roses, freshly turned soil .... I love smells!

@Coll, it's fun to make your own soap! If you want to learn, there's a soapmakers forum called The Dish: Log In. I did register there at some point, but I hardly go there, not enough time (I'm on a Dutch soap-makers forum too)!

My hair today is really greasy luckily it's long enough to put it in a pony tail and I'm working from home today . I do have 2 kinds of clay (white and green clay), I think I'll try to use that to 'cleanse' my hair (instead of the bicar).
