Hi Jenn. I hope the friendship-cultivating works out well. We are so busy with solitary pursuits in our modern world, that it's easy to shut ourselves off. Online friendships can be invaluable, but they aren't enough. I find I have to get pro-active sometimes. Summer is too busy with family, but the rest of the year, I try to make a point of getting together with a girlfriend (not necessarily the same one) once a week. That often means inviting someone over for coffee or supper, because going out often wears me out. The volunteering idea is excellent too. Reaching out to someone else's need is good on so many levels it's crazy.

More and more, our life has been governed by specialists, who know too little of what lies outside their province to be able to know enough about what takes place within it.
