Keep on the path. It'll get easier. Next time you'll get a knife and fork and just eat the insides.

I know. I didn't even WANT the bread...that's the annoying part. I knew I didn't want it, I knew I didn't NEED it, but I was with people in a full restaurant and I didn't want people to think I was "weird". So dumb.

I know what you mean about the weird thing, I have just decided to go ahead and be weird and enjoy it! I figure we are all weird in some way or the other and I can think of worse things than eating "weird" LOL. Each time we eat something like that it helps us next time to make a better choice, no beating up, just move right along. OVerall your food choices sound great! You have a great attitude!

Last night I wasn't even hungry for dinner until like 9pm, which totally messed me up. I know I should have just had a big glass of water and gone to bed, but of course I didn't. I had some pork rinds which, while nutritionally vacant, at least didn't have any carbs...

    Leptin Reset, Day 9
B: turkey patty, two eggs cooked in CO, coffee w/ coconut milk
    L: Nyet. For real, today.
D: Stir-fry of chicken thighs, red pepper, mushroom, broccoli, and whatever other veg I can find to use up in the fridge, all cooked in CO.

I have to get my ass to bed early tonight, because tomorrow is a Take Hubs To Work At 4:30am day. Last weekend, I stayed up way too late both nights before I had to get up to take him to work early and I was a zombie all weekend because of it. Not doing that again...the extra games of Bejeweled that I can get in just aren't worth it.

eta: also, VICTORY! I stopped at the store to get gas this morning, and not only did I NOT go in and get my usual giant decaff coffee with cream (I got green tea instead), but I WALKED PAST THE DONUT DISPLAY AND DIDN'T EVEN LOOK TWICE. This is like...fireworks and fanfare for me, people. I am a recovering pastry hound. It didn't used to matter HOW strong my resolve was about ANYTHING else...I could never get past the donuts without grabbing one. Something about eating a shit-ton of fat and protein first thing in the morning seems to have given me donut blinders! HUZZAH!

Stayed on track all day yesterday, except I got to bed a little later than I wanted. Slept well once I did get to bed, though. I was feeling "dessert-y" after dinner, so I made a mug of decaff chai tea with a couple tablespoons of coconut milk in it, which did the trick beautifully.

Lots of errands to run today. The best thing about my weekends lately is not being chained to a desk for 8 hours a day! I find that my legs don't feel like lead anymore and I WANT to move around and do stuff, but my work schedule doesn't currently allow it during the week. I'm working on that, though.

    Leptin Reset, Day 10:

B: three eggs cooked in CO, 2oz of beef kielbasa, bullet-proof coffee made with decaff coffee and about 1.5Tbsp of CO. I whisked the hot coffee and oil in a big bowl until it was frothy...it was actually REALLY good. I'm a convert!
L: nada, at least that's the plan
D: I'm seriously considering picking up the stuff to make Rogan Josh from the recipe in Well Fed, as I've heard lots of rave reviews.

Also - did an experiment and upped my bedtime magnesium supplement from 250mg to 500mg last night. I did indeed feel like I slept more soundly, and didn't loosen my stools like I feared it might. Yay!

Flerrrrgh. Valuable lesson learned today: 3 eggs and 2oz of kielbasa is NOT enough food to get me through the day without lunch, especially when I'm out and about actually doing stuff, rather than sitting at my desk. Ugh. I was sort of hungry feeling but mostly fine until about 1pm (I ate breakfast at 8am), then all of a sudden my stomach started to grumble and I got REALLY tweaky-feeling. Like, weirdly muggy-headed and could only think about finding something to eat ASAP. I've never had that before. I didn't feel faint or anything, but it was like a switch was flipped in my body and I went into "GET FOOD" mode without being able to talk myself out of it. I was drinking plenty of water all day too, so it wasn't just being thirsty. It SUCKED. Literally the only places around were fast-food places, so I went to McD's, got a double quarter pounder, and ate just the meat (and the pickles, because I like them). Ten minutes later, I felt STELLAR and have been fine ever since.

So, long story short, no trying to get away with a half-assed breakfast. Not worth it.

I did indeed make the Rogan Josh from Well Fed last night and it was pretty good! I couldn't finish my plate - I gave the last 4-5 bites to my husband. Felt really weird to not clean my plate...

    Leptin Reset, Day 11:

B: turkey patty, two eggs cooked in CO, coffee w/ about a tablespoon of CO in it. It didn't stay whisked up very well today. Not sure what I did differently this time.
    L: not planning on any
D: leftover Rogan Josh - so good!

Managed to not have lunch, but I got way-laid by a little bit of 85% Green & Black dark chocolate before dinner, which was naughty. It was only a few little squares, not even a serving, so I'm not too worried about it...especially since I've been otherwise totally compliant all day and have plenty of carb room to spare.

Here's a picture of the Rogan Josh I made last night, if anyone wants to drool over it... It came out super good. I used the recipe from Well Fed by Melissa Joulwan. It's the first thing I've made out of the book, but I look forward to trying her other recipes.

Shameless plug: More food porn can be found on my blog, One Girl Cooks. Note that I've been blogging far longer than I've been Primal-compliant, so there is definitely un-Primal food on there! I try to tag my Primal stuff so that it's easier to find, though. One Girl Cooks also has a Facebook fan page that you can "like" if you want to banter about cooking stuff with other folks who follow me. I'd love to have some more Primal and Paleo followers, as most of mine right now are on the SAD. Fools...

    Today's stunning discoveries:

Whilst scratching an itch on my upper arm, noticed it felt different somehow. Flexed my bicep, and could actually SEE a curve come up, however slight. YAYWTFYAY! I'm not even lifting yet...I think it's just fat redistributing / possibly shrinking.

Flexed toes earlier and noticed a line up the outside of my calf that I hadn't seen in years. Can actually see my ankle bone (the pointy one on the outside of the ankle. It has a name, but I can't think of it presently) on both ankles again as well, which is a HUGE happy-making deal for me because I've been dealing with swollen ankles for years now. This means that my body really is shedding a lot of fluid, and I'm SO psyched.

I've started taking my blood pressure daily, and over the past week my systolic is routinely down 10-20 points from my previous "norms". The diastolic is down about 5 points, but that is historically harder for me to budge than the systolic (no idea why, that's just how it runs for me). The blood pressure thing is another BIG deal for me, and it's really my main motivation for wanting to get healthier. My mom had a stroke quite young (49 y/o) and also had to have stents put in the arteries around her kidney and eventually an emergency bypass on an artery around her kidney (which she almost died from), all because of a lifetime of uncontrolled super-high blood pressure and heavy smoking. My BP has never actually run that high - my worst has been low 140's over 90's, unmedicated - so my doctor thinks I inherited my dad's genes there rather than my mom's...but still. I don't have any interest in putting myself and my family through everything that goes along with that kind of major medical bullshit. I love my mom, but I don't want to become her.

And with that, I'm going my ass to bed.

Celebrating with you on the changes! I discovered my hands again the other day they just lost a layer of pudge that had them looking like some other fat persons hands!! My wedding ring suddenly fits much better and I am not worried that I may have to cut it off one day!!!! You are doing great!!! Keep it up. I enjoy reading your journal. It is always so nice to read what others are up to and how it is going for them.
